Regional Differences

You can only decapitate monsters and non-humans in the Japan and Asian versions of the games (NTSC/J). This is due to their compliance with CERO's guidelines. The European version (PAL) similarly has no human decapitation in compliance with their own rating system. The North American version (NTSC/U) however allows the decapitation of any humanoid foe.

I really enjoyed the demo, and was thinking about purchasing it, but I feel like it will be the same thing throughout the entire game. And that it may get boring. If you buy it, DWA, let me know how the game is as it progresses.

I have wanted to pick this game up and try it; but every time I think about it, I talk myself out of it, as I need to play through the games I have now and finish them first. But definitely give us a big review and let us know what you think of it. Looking for to it! 👍

This is exactly what is holding me back as well... in fact, I have not even openned my copy of Genji: DOB that came with my PS3 bundle last year!

In addition, normally I just don't get into martial art, or any type of non-stop combat games, but I have to admit, the demo for NGS was pretty interesting, and I especially like the various environments and problem solving situations that you have to get your character through... all though admittedly, those in the demo were very easy to solve. The reviews I have read, not only rave about the game, but also suggest that there is far more environments and problem solving, thus my interest has certainly increased.

The problem for me though is that I have barely scratched the surface of the games I already have for the PS3. Frankly, my wife and nephews get more time on the PS3 than I do. What I need is to travel less, and spend less time in the office, and more time on the PS3. :D

Maybe if I moved the PS3 to the office and stopped participating on GTP for a month I might finally get a chance to play more of my games.

💡

When you are the boss... and/or your office is in your home... yes. :D

Ahh, must be nice. ;)

Also, new download content should be available later this month. It has to do with the game's survival mode. Basically, there are going to be three new missions available for download. The first one will be available on August 30th. The second will follow in September, and the third in October. Each mission will cost 315 yen, which is about 3 dollars.

Honestly, I think this game will be what Tenchu Z demo on the 360 was suppose to be. That game was irritating to play and it seemed... unsophisticated.

I'm hoping for a boat load of new weapons in the dlc!

BTW, I play games at work too! FTW :D

See this is great. I know a DLC is coming, Sony knows we know it's coming, and they don't beat around the damn bush. They not only tell us about it but they let us know WHEN it will be around.

Unlike a certain other console and a certian other car game.

I'd run out and buy it right now if the bodies stayed around after you killed them, unfortuantly, I think this is going to be a rent with a possible buy after if the game seems interesting enough...

Sign me up for that job also!!!

And here is some additional information on the download content for the game.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Download Content Information
They now have an official release date for the DLC, and some more details:

American Ninja Gaiden Sigma DLC to be Released on September 6
Posted Aug 09, 2007 at 06:32AM by Victor B.
Ninja Gaiden fans better strap on their ninja swords and prepare for a fight to the finish. Tecmo has sent out word that downloadable content for Ninja Gaiden Sigma will be headed to the PlayStation Store this coming September 6, and it's got survival written all over it.

The downloadable content sets, known collectively as "Survival Mode" comprise of three different DLC packs, all with the basic premise of engaging an endless stream of enemies until you can no longer fight. The three downloads provide different sorts of themed battles, with a World Ranking available for each theme.

The downloadable content for Ninja Gaiden Sigma that'll be released on September 6 is called "Weapon Master". The theme behind this survival mode set is the use of different weapons, as this content pack includes five survival modes where you are allowed the use of a limited array of weaponry.

The second and third pieces of downloadable content, which are scheduled for an unspecified future date, are called "Speed Master" and "Rachel Master". In "Speed Master," you're tasked with defeating enemies as quickly as possible, with different modes altering the time and power gauge to increase the level of challenge. In "Rachel Master", you'll be playing the survival modes as Rachel rather than Ryu Hayabusa.

There's currently no word on the prices for these different Ninja Gaiden Sigma content packs, but we'll inform you of the prices and release dates of the packs as soon as they become available.

Well, its nice to have a set date, although in the post that I quoted, it said the first set of DLC was coming late August, so its about a week later, which isnt too big of a deal I guess.

Man this game gets stupidly hard after about the length of the demo (muscle guy with the nunchucks). Could be that I suck that badly because this really isn't my kind of game.

Anyway, there are some things that become irritating. The left joystick is what you use to move the camera around but for some reason in this game it seems like you're always correcting it or struggling for it to be in the right direction in a heated battle. The button combos to do different moves seem unclear or do a little different variation at times.

That's all I can really report at this time.

I've managed to beat the muscle guy, just! Took a while and a lot of harsh language!! The next level takes you to your village, which is fairly easy to get through, until you meet the boss. He's hard!

I've finally taken him on (ish.... play it and see) and I'm currently in a Blimp chopping everyone up.

This is one tough game, ideal for anyone looking for a challenge. The camera is a bit fiddly but you soon get used to it. I still haven't worked out the combo's yet but I've pulled off some really impressive moves with a bit of a square & triangle combo.

On the whole, though, I am very happy with this (and the Darkness, but I won't go into that here!)

I beat the first boss after about 10 tries, now the second dude on the horse, I beat him but then I lost the next small battle, so now I gotta redo the second guy, this is BS.

I resent my PS3 to my friend's house so he could play it and he surpassed me with ease but then he got to a point where it "gave him trouble" and I don't know if I'd be able to get up to where he did. :scared:

Good as place as any to post this I suppose....

Now will it be released for the PS3?

I'd say for a simultaneous release with the 360 version it's a snowball's chance in Hell considering all of the things Itagaki has said about the 360 and NG2. Now as for a port a year after the game releases, that's a lot more likely, but by no means guaranteed.

There's supposed to be a 1UP preview of the game tonight (and MS' pre-TGS conference in about 5 hours), so I'm guessing we'll know more soon.

The only reason the game won't get a same time release on PS3 is because Itagaki is getting his socks blown by MS, and Sony doesn't 'love him' as much.

Besides, Hayashi clearly owns his ass in every aspect when it comes to the game. Sigma > Itagaki's versions.

And I'm sure that Hayashi will put out a superior NG2 on PS3 sometime in the future, just like he did with Sigma. Itagaki is an idiot.

Just like how Ninja Gaiden Sigma wasn't simply a "port" of Ninja Gaiden Black, I seriously doubt the next Ninja Gaiden game for the PS3 will be a port of the 360 version.

Don't get fooled by those with a bad case of biased portitis. As has been shown already, not only are some "ports" better on the PS3, but many times what they claim are ports are actually versions specifically developed for the PS3 and are not only enhanced, but have exclusive content... like Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

Just be weary of some of the EA games, as they appear to often do lousy/lazy cross platform ports for some of their games.

Yes, just like Sigma, it appears the PS3 will get its own Ninja Gaiden series release in the future, so no worries about a portitis infected version of NG2.
