Nintendo to allow you to buy games you probably already own.

I totally called it.

Since the DSi is functionally limited, all this will ever have is Game Gear and Gameboy games (I'm doubting NGPC emulation would be in the cards), plus the obvious "ha ha screw you DSi owner" GBA titles. That's fantastic. Usually worse versions of Master System games, and an admittedly large quantity of quality original Gameboy games that nonetheless have the graphics of calculator apps most of the time, no doubt to be sold as straight roms with no optimization whatsoever. Really, sign me up.

Have I mentioned how much I want the DSi to bomb? Maybe that will be Nintendo's wake up call to stop acting like Apple does.

LOL!

I was thinking on buying DSi.. or should i stick with way cheaper Lite unit? I do not care about tis DL B-S
Funny how PSP can play PS1 games.. yet DSi will be plaing old gameboy games.. oi..

One part of the original artcile has now been 'clarified' by Nintendo and makes the idea totally absurd.

Specifically, they told us that you will not be able to play GB and GBA games directly from your SD memory card. Also, downloadable GB and GBA games have not officially been announced for North America (only Japan, so far).

Which is just bloody stupid.

Are there really any gameboy/gb advance games worth purchasing for the DSi though? I mean besides Zelda and Mario.

So how will it even work?

I assume you will only be able to run them from the DSi's flash memory, which will seriously limit storage and be a real pain to work with.

However even that falls short of this...

A Nintendo Points card will be redeemable for either Wii or DSi, although once you've redeemed the points on either system they'll be non-transferable.

....I'm sorry but that is just shafting customers in a huge way. Not only do I dislike 'points' based shopping systems for the lack of transparency they offer, but to make them non-transferable is ridiculous.

The PS3 and PSP shops both allow the same sign-in details and wallet to be shared, so you keep track of one lot of money, rather than having to load up two separate accounts.

Our household currently has a Wii and three DS's (one fat and two lites), but at this rate its going to be a long time before a DSi arrives.

Not impressed Nintendo, not at all.
