The article says it was designed by PD and Kaz's team.

Could this be in GT5 for premium cars with full damage and catches on fire? haha!

I'm pretty sure the article was only referring to PD developing the GT-R's instrument panel, not the firetruck version of the car:
article
The instrument panel, for example, was designed by Polyphonic Studios--the development team behind the Gran Turismo games.
Polyphonic Studios... lol

Where do people get that "Polyphonic" crap from? Olivia Munn says it all the time, a couple of other reviewers I've seen pronounce it the very same way.

As for the car, I'll basically echo was dave previously said...

It actually used to be called Poly's Entertainment, if Wikipedia is to be believed ;)

Close enough. Boot up the NTSC-J version of GT1 to see.

Alternatively:

Is what they call Polyphonic Studios supposed to be the design arm of PD?

ANYWAY...

Yeah...a firefighting GT-R? What's this supposed to carry water in? Did they add a PTO to the engine so it could be a pumper? This seems more Monster Garage than Practical.

...yeah seriously, where's the water? I suppose the theory is that it only needs enough to keep it under control before the proper fire engine turns up, but I can't see any sort of tank. Maybe all that pump stuff is just for show, and they instead turn up and try to douse the flames with half a can of diet coke.

I naturally assumed it was their ringtone department.

To the questions above, the water is in a 50-liter tank behind the front seats. However, whatever fire it is, will have to be somewhat small; they est. that the car will be out of water in 2 minutes.

Its only good for fire that are starting, cause once it is burning all over, it can take up to 1500 gallon of water to controle it

that is a point...and perhaps they use foam instead of water. Still...it seems more like a "Look what we can do" rather than a useful thing.

That's pretty cool. But like others have said, this isn't gonna work as a firefighting vehicle. Pace car? Sure. There was an R34 pace car in GT4. It would also work well as a cop car.
