Built to compete in Group 7 Sports Car events (unlimited capacity, un-homologated cars) there is a lot to like about this car - 6 litre V12 plus it competed against - and lapped the Toyota 7!

I thought the Toyota 7 never raced...or are you referring to a different incarnation of the 7?....

The Toyota 7 was raced in 1968 and 1969. For 1970 twin turbochargers were added and it is this, final most powerful version that we have in the game. It was planned to compete in the Can Am Challenge Series, but one of the drivers was killed and the project was cancelled.

A clip of the Japan Grand Prix 1969 - NB this was not for F1 cars, but Group 7 unlimited capacity, unhomologated sports cars - Nissan came first and second with their R382 6 litre V12 cars. The race features Toyota 7's, Lola T70's and a Porsche 917 driven by Jo Siffert. It would be nice to recreate that field!

Amazing footage.

Makes me really want the original Fuji Speedway in the game.

I found this clip of the great M Kurosawa doing a demonstration lap of Tsukuba in the Nissan R382 with which he won the 1969 Japan Grand Prix - beating Jo Siffert in the Porsche 917 plus the three works Toyota 7's and a few Lola T70's:

Nice picture IfAndOr - it's a great looking engine and agreed I can't understand why it isn't in the game already!

In the 1969 Japan Grand Prix Nissan entered three R382's - the winning car was yellow and the other cars, to ease identification were red or blue:

Four car rows in those days! 3 Nissans on the front row with a Toyota 7 and three Toyotas behind. Sifferts Porsche 917 on row two behind the blue Nissan.
