Just a thought, but The Brickyard 400 is this week and since Nascar and Indy are in the game there is pretty much an easy Seasonal event that could of been placed. I remember back when GT5 was announced in 2009 with the debut trailer and Americans were really excited how GT5 was showing interest in an American Motorsport and I remember interview they had with GT5 creator about Nascar in GT5. Polyphony was really interested with Nascar and really getting into it. I remember an interview before the game came out saying many more cars will be in the game. In the debut trailer it shows #55 Napa car. Michael Waltrip's car, but its not in the game. Some of what was shown was not put in play. You can see the trailer and notice how much is not in the game for Nascar. Im wondering if GT5 gave up on Nascar. No new car, no new tracks. No seasonals for Daytona 500 or Brickyard.
Just a wondering thought. I dont want people to take this the wrong was. Just another thought on here added to the thousands

That sounds way to logical... But yes it would have been a great idea for a seasonal.

Agree, but why put something in that makes sense.
Just put a time trial in a track that has glitches in it.

Yep, been thinking of this for a little while now. Wouldn't it be great if each weeks seasonals contained real life race events that were to happen over that weekends race calendars.

I appreciate that you won't always get a list of 5 events happening over any given weekend, moreso due to the limited availibility of Real Life Tracks on GT5 rather than the cars available, but these tracks are used all year round for F1, all types of Touring Car action, low performance vehicles classes, GT events etc etc.

You can always fill the remaining (of the 5 seasonal events) with other classes not already used, on GT5 made tracks that bear resemblence to other race events that weekend.

Or is this all too much work for PD to try and do.

It does make the word 'Seasonal' a bit more true to its word though. And we all would love to be involved in races, restricted to real life performance, that are happening over the weekend. Quali Times, followed by Grid Racing, with matched performance, this should stop the moaners - :scared:

These can easily inorporate within the Seasonals:

NASCAR - Daytona - 50 Laps
DTM - Nurburgring GP/F - 15 Laps
F1 - Monte Carlo - 15 Laps
WTCC - Suzuka - 15 Laps
GT Open - Monza - 15 Laps
IndyCars (using FGT) - Indianapolis - 50 Laps
ALMS - Laguna Seca - 30 Laps
Le Mans - Le Sarthe - 30 Laps

But of course these are just examples. Anyway, thoughts over, now out of my head, and can sleep a little now :nervous:

good idea, but with the current ai that would be way too easy. whats the fun in a 15 laps nurburgring race with dtm cars, if you easily lead all 15 laps and win with like 30 secs to 2. ?

This is where PD could put in some clever PP or BHP restrictions, to keep you honest ;)

I promise you that a car can be entered in which it will take you 15 laps to catch the leader.

It's really not that hard to devise such a scenario.:)

You ruined the game yourself. If you're winning that easily, your car is overpowered. The AI is conservative, it's true, but it's not that bad.

Just drive the exact car and ***TIRES*** as your competition's mid pack AI is using. If you're still dominating, add some ballast.

I agree with you the goal is to have races that are difficult to win, and with GT4 GT5 it's entirely within your grasp to have such cars.

Sadly, most gamers want to be able to win on their first or second try or they think they game sucks and buy an easier game. It's been a facet of the gaming industry since Super Mario 2 (the original was hard, so they replaced it with an easy game and thereby made more money).

It's good that today you can usually make your games more difficult if you want. Nowhere is that more true than here, my friend.

I wholeheartedly agree that the best use of seasonals would be to have races very similar to what's going on in the real world. a 4 hours of Le Mans race during the 24hr race, for example. Daytona 500 during the Daytona 500.

Great idea.

These would be great, and I just realised I do miss quali! Starting from the back or from the same place partway through the field each time is...so weird really. Of course they wouldn't be able to directly mention F1, DTM and a few others but they don't really need to :)

I think some people wrongly assume there's some central place a developer can go to get a blanket licensing agreement for NASCAR.

The series and branding are owned by a corporation. Each track is individually owned. Each car is individually owned. Each sponsor agreement must be considered too.

To assume that PDI could coordinate all of these elements for one component of the game is a little off base.

I'm glad the NASCAR elements we got are in the game and I enjoy racing these cars on the Super speedways and road courses.

But, we got what we got and there are other dedicated NASCAR games for those who crave more.

I'm no lawyer but I hardly see a problem with having a 20 lap seasonal event name "July Race" at Indy.

I am really suprised ( and dissappointed ) that with all the promotion they did about having Nascar in the game that there isnt more nascar content. I had expected an endurance nascar race and some of the normal races to involve more stockcar type racing. i know alot of you might think nascar is boring but it takes alot of skill and plenty of planning and teamwork to win a nascar race. If they were to add a nascar race with the difficulty level on par with what we had in the expert races, I think it would be a great seasonal.

This is probably very usa indeed, i haven't got much gleus what brickyard is.., i guess it's a race ?
But it would be nice to have STANDING STARTS ! on all races from now on, this system which PD uses has nothing to do with simulation.
Knelly's idea looks cool if PD wakes up*

* They must be sleeping with so many issues GT5 has.

May i ask: Nascar? Is this real racing? Sorry, dont get me wrong, shure it is not easy to drive one of these cars, but to drive 50 laps with only 2 corners (in a game!) cannot be very interesting, especially for europeans which are used to F1 with the best aerodynamics on the planet. Also we got Touringcar championships that are bloody good to look at...sorry, only me opinion...

In most nascar tracks its 4 turns not 2, although the tracks are mostly oval shaped they consider a turn as a 90 degree change in direction. If you take a car around the indianapolis track you will see 4 very defined turns as oposed to daytona which seems like only 2 big turns. Nascar also races on road courses but sadly they chose not to include them in the game.
Is it racing? Well consider that a stockcar is twice as heavy as an F1 car and the tires are half as wide and they create about a quarter of the downforce as an F1 car but still hit speeds of over 200mph, yeah its racing!
Also in nascar they dont have teammates blocking for them to make sure one driver gets a win, in nascar your teammate may take you out to get a win. Also, if it wasnt racing why are F1 drivers leaving formula racing to go to nascar= former world champion Kimi Raikkonen, Juan Pablo Montoya, Nelson Piquet, Max Papas, Jacques Villenueve, Narain Karthekeyan, Scott Speed, and that doesnt incluse the indycar drivers that have crossed over. Just because it is not european auto racing does not mean it is not racing. I would like to see 43 F1 cars going around Bristol and see how many came out of that race in 1 piece!

BTW: I thought GT was about bringing all types of autoracing to everyone not just one type, which is why we have F1, touring car, rally, raid, hillclimb, nascar, and even karting.

Now I wanna see F1 go to Bristol or Martinsville with 43 cars. In 1998 Nascar went to Suzuka and Twin Ring Motegi. Why cant they come to Bristol and Martinsville. That would be sweet.

I'd like to add: Nascar has it's own games allready. Ordenairy cars rely solely on GT!
I totally don't mind Nascar being implemented in GT (in fact: the more, the better) BUT i've been keen on GT for the 'normal' road cars wich i (and 99%) of the people around me use almost every day. So before doing stuff wich other games do in abundance (using F1, Nascar and the lot) i'd like them to finish the usual GT (grandma cars) stuff first. Right now i've got a feeling PD bit of more than it can chew. I still like the game tho. but it's the only race game that i know of which has cars like the 2CV, Civic, 205, Xantia, C5, demio and etc. And imho those cars are the reason of GT success, and with all respect Nascar comes 3rd (after rally cars) to be implemented in GT.
2nd: there's a Nascar TT several Special and A&B-spec events in game. There are many premium Nascar in the game (lucky you, i whish there where so many premium oldtimers!!!)
Greetings stano(NO i don't h8 Nascar i just like oldtimers much better)666 :

Just wanted to say thanks for the comments of the above being a great idea :sly:

Kind of turned into a NASCAR debate, but the idea was more to be around real life race meets coupled with that weekend of Seasonals.

In my opinion it just grows all our knowledge of world wide racing.

And, PS, NASCAR isn't real racing? Seriously, have you tried running in a competitive and highly skilled Daytona race in a pack of 16, at 200 mph - if it's your first time, then good luck :scared:

Thanks again guys, let's hope PD hear this....

But I want a game to challenge me, I don't want to challenge myself. And I use the same tyres and cars as my competition, but I easily win the DTM-events with even the Calibra. I don't want to add balast and lower power and stuff, because it's DTM and they all have the same power (some have 50 hp less) and I want to drive them that way but still being challenged. And I also dont want to be 30 seconds behind the leader when the race starts and that's the problem with events based on real life race events: You will usually want to drive them the same way they are driven in reality because you might want to compare times and make it feel real somehow and they just don't drive with 100 horses less.

Yes Nascar has their own games but PD chose to add it to GT so they should either do nascar or dont, but dont half-ass it which is what they have done. There are nascar tracks in the game so why do we not have a nascar event on a nascar track?
Now maybe you buy the game to drive "grandma cars" but I have to drive these cars in RL so why would I want to drive them in a racing simulation game?

NASCRAP has there own game as well as F1,V8,and rally. etc. that said GT/PD have put them in this game very very limited, yet they are here. As the OP mentioned, would Have been nice to connect with real world racing events with the seasonal events some how(thinking out side the box) a nice Payout and 25-50 lap events ie Le Mans, Indy 500, Daytona 24/500,Nurburgring,Monaco. would have been real nice

Yep i can get the point, and i've said it in post: they added a lot in GT5 but at a cost.
And for driving in the real world.., i recall that to be in a little different manner, the real world has rules and consequences (you crash you hurt) GT world hasn't (you crash you laugh.., or swear);)
btw funny thread name -LOL- Greetings stano(no offence, and non taken)666 :)

Yeah, I just realized that I spelled "Seasonal" wrong in the thread name. Now it says "Seaonal". I am not sure how to fix the title of the Thread though...
