:) For all of you who say that there are no real challenges in gt concept:

It really depends on the cars you choose to race with and the opponents you get. Just a while ago I decided to race with the 350Z GranTurismo Aero, Ace level, no aids.
I just lowered the car, set the gears to the track main straight – the track by the way was Midfield II – but kept the normal tires since usually with soft tires you get too much advantage. I was preparing to get to first after one or two corners but when I looked at the list of my opponents I was not so sure anymore:

NISSAN GT-R Concept
Spoon S2000
RUF 3400S
RUF 3400S
Spoon S2000
350Z GranTurismo Aero (me)

Still, I was overconfident and messed up in the tight corner after the tunnel; When I looked up the GT_R was already miles away, not having anyone ahead to slow him down – the way the AI sticks to the lines makes some very powerful cars take ages to overtake much less powerful ones, as everyone knows. I stayed in the race and ended up battling it for 5th with the last S2000!
Final Standings:
NISSAN GT-R Concept
RUF 3400S
RUF 3400S
Spoon S2000
350Z GranTurismo Aero
Spoon S2000
(Sorry I dont have the times: the GT-R finished 15 + secs ahead of the first 3400S though)
At least I did managed to get 5th! :(

I slightly readjusted the gears, tried to concentrate harder and had another go. This time I managed to get to second place on the long left turn after the second tunnel but the GT-R was already 5secs ahead of me. Besides, I was having enough problems with the two RUFs behind my back to be able to concentrate on a chase. I went down to third during some parts of the race – in the long straight the 2 RUFs were too fast for my Nismo – but ended 2nd with the 2 RuFs close behind me, 15 secs ahead of the 2 S2000, But 15secs behind the GT-R!
I went for a final try with soft tires this time, but still the closest I could get to the other NISSAN was 3 secs. My driving was a bit sloppy this time, and maybe I could have gotten closer. The other 4 cars were no problem this time but some ambitious cornering made me end up second 7secs behind the GT-R. It would be different had I driven better but still, I believe a great challenge in gt concept!

Also, I decided to have a go with the same car this time in a slower track, Autumn Ring I, where it’s easier to beat more powerful cars. Surprise, surprise my opponents are exactly the same – this time though there are 3 3400S’s and just 1 Spoon, and the Gt-R Concept is there, in 1st place on the starting grid, waiting for me!
I’ll tell you about it latter! :)

So I adjusted the gears, reselect the normal tires and press start. :)
The track is Autumn Ring I, my car the 350Z GranTurismo Aero, no aids. By the way I’m using my Logitech wheel with the lap thing, I’m quite used to it though but it would be better if it was attached to something but i play in my living-room it's the only confortable way to play sitiing on a couch!!
Ace level
5 laps
Starting grid:
NISSAN GT-R Concept
Spoon S2000
RUF 3400S
RUF 3400S
RUF 3400S
350Z GranTurismo Aero (me)

Auntumn Ring is probably the track where I have most fun in gtconcept; you see it’s new to me cause I didn’t play the other GT series games (only gt3 and concept), and it’s great for drifting both for fun and to get faster times.
So in a way I was about to try to prove that you are in fact much faster using fast drifting techniques. Well, said and done. The GT-R was very fast at the start and I was still last when I got to the 1st turn; but in the following Ss I passed 2 RUFs; in the tight right corner after the middle straight I passed the S2000. At the front, the RUF was getting close to the GT-R but they were both suddenly right there as I drifted through the long left when you start going up. Passed the RUF before entering the 2nd lap, managing to stay behind the GT-R, playing it fair in the first turn and passing it again by using drifting. I’ve read some posts here where people complain that drifting slows them down but I guess it’s because they’re not doing it right. Of course there’s no gain if you drift in turns where you can actually go full throttle but on very tight corners if you do it right you’re not only on the other side of the turn much faster but you also break less thus keeping the revs up high and flying past opponents out of the corner; you can also benefit from drifting in long turns or consecutive turns by breaking less or just lifting your foot off the gas.
And after passing the GT-R the race was a picnic, I just stood to my lines, ended up over doing my drifts just for the pleasure of it; still, at the beginning of lap 4 I was 9secs in front of the 3400S which had passed the GT-R! The NISSAN was actually slowing down the 2nd 34000S as I checked in replay.
My best lap was 1.23xxx
Final standings:

350Z GranTurismo Aero 7.15.xxx
RUF 3400S + 12.xxx
NISSAN GT-R Concept + 15.xxx
RUF 3400S + 15.xxx
RUF 3400S + 17.xxx
Spoon S2000 + 23.xxx

Of course all AI cars had ASM and TCS on!

Anyway, the 350Z GranTurismo Aero may be a challenge on a fast track – at least with this kind of opponents – but when it’s driving skills not just a fast car that’s in stake like in Autumn Ring it’s another easy win!! :(

Yeah Autumn Ring Rules , It feels like a real race track

- Midway --> Those turns in front of the tunnel would never be allowed on a real track
- Tokoy- All that track is good for is bumping into barriers

Ps , If you want something nice on Autumn Ring , try the elises / vx220's . They take some skill to drive , cos you have to drive them with an oversteer attitude , but you don't want to slide them cos they have no torque what so ever

the only things I changed from the default settings were ride height (minimum), gear ratio (according to the track-minimum in A. Ring) and break balance which i increased to 14 front and back. Everything else - including tires - is stock, though as stated i did change to soft tires on my 3rd attempt in Midfield II.

The Elise is a hell of a car :) and yes, it's great in A. Ring. I particularly like to beat the Pace Car in the A. Ring license: the Elise has less than half the hp of the GranTurismo GT-R but it's still easy to beat it due to great handling, very little weight - I believe it's the lightest car in GT3 after the F1s! - and drifting, of course :)

Well, Alexy
:) I don’t think you can get inside the pace car to check that (I will try it when I play the game again though) but one thing I’m sure: if I was driving the GT-R I don’t think the Elise would ever get pass me! :D
But actually the behaviour of the Pace Car is a bit odd; if you stop or slow down it’ll wait for you ahead but if you decide to turn around and go the wrong way (without wrong way written on the screen—have you noticed that?) the Pace Car will wait for you a while and then go mad and start racing the track regardless of where you are; Also I’ve noticed that it’s harder to get close to it than to the other cars; if you bump into the Pace Car your car will jump back—even if it’s a light touch—much like I remember from older video games!
Still, it seems you can actually drive the Pace Car—with the roof lights or whatever—if you have access to the hidden cars. But I don’t own a sharkport!!!
