I recently made a thread about my ultimate pleasure in the game and it's taking a bone stock car and driving it in the Nurburgring.

Now this got me thinking, what are some of the best cars right out of the dealership? And what I mean is, no oil change, no tire change, nothing. You literally purchase it and take it to the track (I guess used cars are an exception regarding oil changes).

A few of the best Cars i've tested (on the Nurburgring as always):

BMW M5 - ridiculously fun car. Awesome Balance with very little hint of understeer

NISSAN GTR '09 Spec V - 'Nuff said

Mine's R34 spec v - Technically not stock as it's already tuned by the company. But without doing any tranny upgrades or engine upgrades, the car is already a beast. The response in the throttle is ridiculous, and probably one of the best handling cars imo.


CRAPPY ONES

Chevy Corvette ZR1 - Is it just me or is this damn car difficult to drive? Suspension is a little floaty, and the car definitely loves to understeer. Push the throttle just a little and you oversteer. Definitely takes some concentration pushing this thing.

Ferrari F40 - I'm surprised with this one. The first time taking this car out, I thought It'd be cake. Boy was I wrong. This thing massively understeers also.


I didn't wanna list all of the cars (i've tested alot), so what about you guys?
 
The Amuse S2000 GT1.
The 300 SL.
The Nissan GTR '07.
 
First time driving the ZR1 I won an online race on High Speed Ring. It felt fine. The only issue with the F40 was gearing.

I don't really think any car requires modifications at all, and no matter what the car, I have a version that is stock.
 
The ZR1 doesn't understeer a bit for me.

Cars that understeer horribly:
Ferrari 599
Lexus LF-A (which is a shame because it sounds so amazing)
 
S2000
Amuse GT1 Turbo
Toyota GT-ONE

And I find most FF cars are fun to drive bone stock.
 
The F40 doesn't understeer to me, it just requires a delicate touch. If you try to thrash the car, it will thrash you right back, but if you try to sync yourself with the car it will reward you accordingly.

Straight from the dealership, the Murcielago SV is just as temperamental, but in a car that feels much bigger and is almost 200 kg heavier. Without the characteristic turbo lag of the F40, the Murcielago SV doesn't give you any warnings that it's about to throw the tail out, which makes it tricky to drive. That being said though, I refrained from making any permanent modifications to it and so aside from a coat of Countach Verde it can go back to being stock at any time.

Chromeline Lambo Murchilago LP640 (sideways of course)
Ferrari F40 (because of its turbo lag)
 
It's very rare that i buy a car and drive it without putting something on it (I just like to tweak the settings) but the Buick Special 62 (won it from somewhere) is so epic, it drifts as it is, it really doesn't need any bolt on tuning parts
 
Uh...Honda NSX Type R '02 anyone?
 
The Lambo Countach 25th Anniversary edition.. I love this thing. Fast, mild oversteer, just perfection. My biggest surprise in GT5 so far thats for sure
 
Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG ‘08 & Jaguar XFR ‘10 I got both of these as prize cars and without any tuning or modding they shot to the top of my drift leaderboards (they are no longer in top spots but still very impressive). I always try cars unmodified first if I can as sometimes get surprises like these two and then I am afraid to mess with them in case they lose their magic.
I agree that the Ferrari F40 was very disappointing, with tuning I'm sure it could be mean but stock standard I thought it would be better.

M3 CSL bone stock is one of the best-handling cars I've driven on GT5 yet.

Move aside everybody, my Mitsubishi i-MiEV is currently my favorite car that doesn't need upgrades! :dopey:

Actually, with this car it's not an issue whether or not it needs upgrades because there are no upgrades for this car! :lol: It's an all-electric kei car that can only accept better tires :O Hey, I've won plenty of Beginner races in it, though!

I was about to say the same thing, but this thread at least has a twist to it. It's cars that we buy and don't need to tweak at all that also happen to be our faves.

I tried the original, '74 Countach and was amazed by its poise and balance, great fun. I expected the 25th Anniversary version, with its extra weight and ridiculous power, to be a bit of a handful - but it's positively great! Not as lithe as the original, but just as much fun!

Additionally: any NSX, any E46 M3, any Esprit, most FF coupés and I'm sure many others I've not yet driven - all fantastic, on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife at least.

This is not exactly a my personal favourites thread. I also searched prior to creating this one.

This one is to list cars that you tested bone stock, and felt that nothing had to be done to it to make it fantastic. And Vice Versa!
 
I like driving all cars bone stock first, and always enjoy it even if they are difficult. It's interesting trying to get used to each cars nuances before fiddling around with them.

I was surprised how good the Nissan Fairlady Z Version S (Z33) '07 is "out of the box".
 
Its probably relative to driving style but at the same time familiarity. There are cars I hated and drove for a bit in races online and A-spec and grew to love and there are cars that I loved and then got into an (online mostly) race and hated.

That said I wouldnt waste a urination on the Enzo if it was on fire....Im yet to find anything its good at. Unless of course you count trying to kill me at very high speeds...

Like I said its relative...Im sure the next 5 posts will come out in favour of the Enzo!
 
I like to do the same thing, but I can't help but do a couple "necessary" modifications.
After I buy a car, I change the oil, put Sport-Soft tires on, and fix the brake balance.
Then I go run a lap at my test track.
The oil is just because I don't want to abuse it into a rebuild situation, the tires are to have an even playing field, and the brakes are because the default 5-5 setup is just stupid on any car. I start with 6-4 on road cars and 7-3 on race cars.
 
Jaguar coupe luxury '07 - Sound is amazing - suspension is fantastic - the interior, well it's just luxurious. And also the NSX Type R '02. Two of the biggest surprises up until now for me. Especially the Jaguar!

Those are my favorites to flog at the ring, so far.
