no rules brand racing race 3 - el capitan

norulesbrandracinground3.jpg

This is the third race of the tournament which will be held at my all time favorite track: el capitan. remember that you have to pick a different car than the one you used for the other races from your brand of choice.

the deadline for this race is wednesday, 18 october, 1900 cet.

we have agreed not to do any cheating but otherwise there are no rules, which means that you can pick the track order, the race mode (arcade or gt mode, single race or race event), the car setup, clean or dirty hotlapping, etcetera.

please post your laptimes in this thread as soon as possible together with your car of choice, so everybody knows where he (she) stands and can try to do better.

i wish you all lots of fun this week. i wish myself and you all a full pack of laptimes - this week was 14 and last week was 15 out of 22.

i want to thank mate and co-steward βen (wrs div1 since yesterday!!!) for his beautiful artwork as shown above.

Round three already? Time flies when you're having fun 'eh?

This'll be a long week then, El Cap has to be my least favourite track, sorry Steven. ;)

Good job I've still got plenty of my 4WD Audis left to pick from then. :trouble:

I'll be back later with a lap time and car choice. 👍

Darren.

Tsk, tsk. El Capitan = My favourite ever track. I'll run a hell of a lot here I think, WRS 77 isn't too good so that leaves all week free :trouble: .
Good luck all

okay, here it is -> 1:18,932 👍

its arcarde mode this time, cause i was more than 2sec faster than GT Mode ;)

Back with my first run time.

SuperT - Audi A4 touring car '04 - 1'27.682

Plenty more time to come as I've only done a handful of laps, I'm usually a 'million monkeys' kinda guy. ;)

Darren.

I knew this one would be El Capitan, not that you made it too obvious Steven.

Nevertheless, I'm going to have to maintain my cash flow to keep this up.

I got a time today, but it will be with my slowest car so I won't do to well this time around:(.

I'm suffering at the hands of my McLaren F1 GTR Race car...
When I go to brake, the car rather just loses sudden grip and slides off the road.

For an example, If I were to reach 300kmph, then suddenly brake, the car would spin out once it slows to around 100kmph.
I believe I am losing valuable time doing this (around 4-5 secs), and I've yet to solve the problem. Regardless, I have done all I can with the settings.

Nevertheless, help with this would be damn appreciated.

luke, i had the same experience with the mclaren f1 until i found following settings - forgot if they were mine or (probably) from gtvault. i used them for my winning round at fuji so you'll have to adjust for el cap.

full options
breaks 5/5
aids 3x1
lsd 14/45/45
max downforce
tranny (tricked) auto 1 final 2.650
springs 7.1/7.3
ride height 69/70
dampers front 4 rear 5
camber 2.8/1.8
toe 0/-1
stabs 5/5

good luck!

Thanks, I'll be sure to try them.
But what do you think the general problem is?

I seem to have a problem with many of my high powered-cars, especially my RZ Supra.

did you do the stiffness overhaul (not the cage)?
that might make a difference both in braking and high speed stability.
otherwise use lsd decel and front chassis settings, and check your brake balance.

I think your problem is that your brake balance, I had the same issue with my Supra RZ as well, if you hear your tyres squeel when you brake hard it probably locking up, your car would probably also loose control if you turned to hard.

Theres two way to solve this, one is if you drop your brake balance to 1,2 or three on both sides, and the other is tapping your brake when you want to stop quick, tap tap then hold, it really helps your braking

I had the same problem with a Viper I was using one time, it turns out that
I had the brakes set to high and all I was doing was locking up my wheels.

Edit:
Here's my time, and I did say it was going to be slow:(.

i second that. and it's also best when people that are costewards post laptimes themselves :)

It was automatically set to 3 respectively...

GT Pro, you may want to try it in Arcade mode...I've done that this week with my Audi A4 touring car and come up with better times so far. 👍

I'll post my time up later... I've forgotten it at the moment? :D

Oh yeah :trouble:

One medium-fried Nardo chainsaw-engine coming up!

Darren.

Arcade seems to be better for race-cars, which don't have much power-tuning potential, already minimum-weight cars - -10% weight more than what GT Mode can do, and the 20% power doesn't add that much less than GT Mode... And the good setup (most) racecars have is helpful too.

Couldn't agree more Gingiba. The Race Cars on GT don't really need any more power, they just need less weight.

My conclusion as to my problem could not be fixed via brake balance/etc. The actual problem is that it had too much power for the wheels to handle, thus being a problem when braking as the increased pressure on the brake discs were monumental.

Say hello to Arcade mode:
<1'20.5XX is my best time so far on this track, so there you go Steven.

Did a lap with all the cars I haven't yet used, and I think I'll stick with this one :p
Volkswagen Beetle '49 in arcade mode with +0% power and -0% weight.
2'58.448
Funny, cause I can go flat out for a while lap, never coming off the accelerator :p The highest speed I reached was 76 mph.
