Ok, my family just got a new 73in dlp tv and a new comcast digital dvr hdmi cable box. Last night for seemingly no reason the sound on the tv stopped working but the picture still comes up. The sound works when I play xbox360 and if I change input. Also the surround sound speakers wont work when the cable input is on, so it cant be the tv. I think its the cable box somehow but it doesn't matter what is wrong if that damn thing wont work when pops gets home I am to blame. I checked the wires but all seems ok.................HELP!!!!!!!!!!:nervous:

Have you put the volume down or pressed the mute button on the cable box's remote?

And a more descriptive thread title wouldn't go amiss either...

I am on my third "Comcast digital dvr hdmi cable box"! What a piece of junk. Even with the third box installed I still get a delay between the time I press a button on the remote before the guide screen reacts. I've had many problems other then the sound one you are describing.

Have you had Comcast send a "hit" out to the box to reset it?

First, are you using component cables? Make sure they are securely in place. Make sure the audio red and white cables are not mixed with the video red cable on the cable box and your DLP.

Press Menu on your remote and go to Menu > Setup > Audio Setup. Make sure those settings are correct.

Oh and a PSA: Turn your cable box off. Press Menu on your remote. This takes you to your service menu. Make sure the cable box is set to 16:9, 1080i, and 4:3 Override is off. Press Menu again to exit.
