I'm seriouslly stumped on this one. ONLY on gtplanet, any thumbnails showing screen shots etc on the news page, will not show up. I see the boxes they are supposed to be in, but nothing else. It's always been like this, but I havent really tried to troulbeshoot it, but I want to now because I want to see all those sweet new pics of PD studio that came down todya. I have the latest verision of firefox, and I think I'm still running IE 7. I tried both firefox and IE, same thing on both. I tried resetting the IE settings, nothing. Everything else on the site works fine except for those thumbnails. :grumpy:

Anyone else have the same problems or have any possible solutions?

Start with the basics, have you got the latest versions of Flash and Java installed and could your virus/security software be interfering in any way? The problem could also depend on how the images are loaded by the news page, which I can't answer obviously but something must not be liking it. Clearing your internet browser caches may also help.

Hmmm, interesting. There is nothing exotic about how the thumbnails are displayed, they're just plain old images. I presume you can see the full size when you click on them? What happens when you try to view the thumbnails directly? Try these two different links and let me know what happens:

When I try to view those nothing shows up, a tab opens up with the correct url but no picture. I found those direct links to the thumbnails while viewing the source code on the main page and found it odd I couldn't view those jpegs.

Even stranger, I did update both java and flash a few weeks ago. Just for troubleshootings sake I downloaded and installed flash via Internet Explorer. After the install FIREFOX was able to view the thumbnails one time. But hasn't been able to again since. So I tried reinstalling flash again with no luck. It makes absolutely no sense :dunce:

Wow, definitely one of the more perplexing things a visitor to this site has ever experienced! Let's dig deeper... What happens when you right click on either of the direct links I posted above, and choose "Save Link As..."? I've also copied the file to another location on my server, and uploaded another to ImageShack as well - can you see it in either of these places?

You sound like a more technical user, so if you want to install the Live HTTP Headers Firefox extension, it could give us a better idea of what is going on. With the Live HTTP Headers window open (you'll find it under Tools), try loading the images again and paste the output here.

On a similar note - I thought that your "gallery" UI was really clunky... a view next/previous set of buttons would be good...

I can PM you some javascript for some gallery code if you would like (drop me a PM if you're interested - FOC)

Okay when I click the first link at gtplanet it loads a blank image in a new tab. When I right-click and save as.. it saves a 1x1 pixel jpeg image.

The second image hosted at imageshack works fine.

I captured with live headers while loading both of those links in firefox. Here is the output:

Try disabling your ad blocker.

RRAGGGGGEEEEEEE 🤬

I could have sworn I turned off my firewall (Kaspersky Internet Security) and it still didn't work, but I guess not. Where I went wrong troubleshoot was adding "www.gtplanet.net" to my whitelist for the ad blocker, where I didn't add "gtpla.net" where the thumbnails are actually hosted. Lammeeeeeeeee. That's just like me to overlook the easiest answer and try to solve the great mysteries of life instead. Anyways it's fixed.

In conclusion: for anyone else having problems viewing the thumbnails, add "gtpla.net" to their exclusion or white list in their security suite or whatever ad blocker.

Thanks Jordan, don't know how I overlooked that tidbit  You da man!
