Noob Q, what historic race car?

hey 'all.
Just finding my ways into this game, slowly chipping away at laptimes in A-Spec events. Can't seem to get a podium finish in Historic Racing Car Cup (Expert Series). Entry Req is '79 or earlier. Running tuned Lambo LP400 and am getting smoked. Price tag on Ferrari 330 P4, Ford GT40s and the like is $20,000,000.
Any suggestion for another car that might be competitive without cleaning out piggy bank?

Borrow a 2J from somebody, easy win.
Or borrow any of the above mentioned cars from somebody.

The Toyota 7 will do the trick.
It's a price car, can't remember what race though. :indiff:

edit: I's the pricecar for the "Like the wind" race in B-spec
 
Hi mate welcome.

There are a number of threads on this subject but I don't have the links unfortunately.
I used a 69 Race modded Camaro that you can buy from the new car dealership.
It will do the job but sometimes not that easily depending on where some of the AI cars start.
An alternative is to use a Chapparel 2J that someone has up for share. Haven't tried it in this car but imagine it will blow them away without too many probems.

I don't know what A-Spec level you are, but the Indy endurance race gifts you the Jaguar XJ13. The Jag is great for the race, as it's not over powered, nor is it inferior to the compitition. Looks great as well.
 
Also, just FYI, but if you use the Ford Mark IV or the Ferrari 330P4 or the Jaguar XJ13 and win the race, you get the Dream Race trophy. 👍

From Famine's Trophy Guide:

"Dream Race - Win the ultimate three-way showdown between a Ford Mark IV Race Car, a Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car and a Jaguar XJ13 Race Car. Win a race at the Historic Racing Car Cup in Expert Series while driving one of these three cars - the others will probably be present."

Although, "the others will probably be present", make sure they are at the Race Start screen to ensure that you will win the trophy. I know it takes some time to get to $20M, but Seasonal races make it quicker or you could borrow the Mark IV or Ferrari 330P4 or get them from a 1967 Birthday Ticket, in addition to winning the XJ13. 👍
 
The Toyota 7 is ideal, however, the Deep Forest race has proven to be very tricky in that car.
 
I did it with the Jaaaag XJ13, only with suspension brake, and downforce adjustments.
 
I did it with a fully tuned Shelby Cobra, I do believe.
 
Luckily I had a 330 P4 on hand.... I had no choice cause the 2J was smoking me in other cars. D:
