Hi, im very new to all this, stumbled upon the site a couple of months ago and have been viewing ever since, but have never posted. I took a few shots a while back and never got round to doing anything with them, but thought id give it a go lastnight. I used GIMP to add little touches (and ive never used it, or any other photo manipulation program before may i add) to the pic and tbh im really pleased with what resulted.

Anyways i very rarely get to play on GT so updates wont be that frequent but ill try and add some more in time. Comments are welcomed, good and bad, hopefuly it will be constructive criticism as id like to get to know photo manipulation programs better, ive already got a taste for it now.

Good bad or ugly? You decide.

Hi, just updated with the Impreza, another shot i really liked so thought id put it up for you guys to have a look at.

Yeah i did notice it was using it a bit much, but also quite liked the effect. I get the impression that GIMP is quite basic as i couldnt find any options to add blur to a chosen part of a shot, only the whole picture, maybe ive over looked an option?

I'm at school right now so I can't comment on your pictures, but I use GIMP exclusively and may be able to help you some.

In order to put a blur on a certain part of the picture, you have to select the area you want first, using the free select tool, it looks a bit like a lasso. I believe you can press F to choose it. Once you have the tool, select all of the area you want. Then you may add blur to the area you selected, and no where else, until you select another area.

Anyways, GIMP is a smaller, less powerful version of PS, but its still a capable editing program that can help you kick out some awesome shots.
