I haven't posted much on these forums, but i've made quite a few GT5 videos, figured i would post my latest here.

The car is the 240RS road version at the Nurburgring forwards and reverse, i skip the straight and go backwards until i reach the straight again, turn around again and repeat. I used to do this in GT4 to practice.

The wheel i use is the T500RS with the TH8RS shifter. I have all the driving aids turned off, even the ABS at 0, i have fuel consumption and tire wear turned on, i have realistic grip loss turned on. The car is completely stock except for the racing ECU. I edited the audio to sound a bit better in Sony Vegas.

Wow, your sick! Makes me wanna go play GT5 and drive some non-supercars:) Great driving, you should take up the real thing!

Thanks, i wasn't actually that pleased with that lap but i had a flu and that car is surprisingly very difficult to drive for some reason, at least in the stock setup. I actually have done a bit of real-world racing unprofessionally, but it's not realistic to try and get into motorsports as a profession at my age, i'm not really old (25), but you really need to start at least in your teens if you want to make a serious go at it. Plus i have a really good career in my field and i wouldn't leave it for racing. That said, i will do more real-world racing as a hobby only when i have more time.

Anyways, i've made a couple of other videos at the Nordschleife and figured i'd post them in this thread instead of making multiple threads.

Below is a Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2, a Group B car, forwards and reverse at the Ring:


I also did two normal laps at the Ring with the Toyota 7, a Group 7 race car:


I recorded them with an Elgato Game Capture.

I'm also planning to do a forwards and reverse run with the Lancia Stratos Group 4 car and i'll post that here probably early next week, i'll try to record the lap tomorrow.

Well I didn't think you'd ever respond! Anyways, i like the cars you use. Lots of old style rally cars.. After watching the 240 RS one, a random one appeared in the UCD. I tried it stock with only ECU tuning and I couldn't believe how hard it was!

Glad to see your making more vids, thanks for the good content!
 
Ok, it's a bit later than i planned, but i finally edited the video today and uploaded it, 1080p should be available soon.

This is the rally version of the Lancia Stratos, i didn't purchase any upgrades and even kept the original Sports Medium tires. All driving aids are turned off including the ABS, and i put the steering sensitivity to -2. The physics have become much more dynamic with the updates, i remember driving this car shortly after the game was originally released and it felt like an RC car at that time, it now feels much better and much more believable.

Yeah, i get very busy with work and probably won't be posting very frequently, but i will respond to new posts eventually. I really like these older rally cars, especially the Group B cars, i only wish they added the Evo 2 Sport Quattro to go along with the other major Group B cars, they have both the Evo 1 and Evo 2 205t16, but only the road going original Sport Quattro before they shortened the wheel-base. Another interesting group of cars they could have added are the Group S prototypes, i know Peugeot had a working prototype, Mazda had their re-engineered MR-2 as their prototype, and Lancia had 2 different prototypes for Group S, they never raced, but it would still be very interesting to see those in the game, maybe in 6, although i doubt it.

I think the next video i'll make will be of the Lancia Delta S4, then the Ford RS200 eventually.

May I ask why for the -2 Steering Sensitivity?

And the Evo 2 Quattro Group B rally car is my favorite race car of all time. Not even rally car. That thing had more wings then a plane or a space ship :) 600 HP too!

Again, really nice video. Great driving!

Oh and that drift at 2:16 looks exactly like a video of that lancia at tour de course that I saw on one of my old VCR tapes. lol

The steering sensitivity on the default setup is too quick for most cars in the real world in my opinion, so i almost always lower it to -2. It would be better if the steering settings were shown as a ratio, that way they could make the front wheels turn to the maximum possible for the actual cars and simply adjust the ratio from the wheel, the more advanced race cars could be given full adjustability as well. As it is, i'm only changing the steering sensitivity because in my opinion the default ratio feels too low.

I also corner mostly with the throttle and brakes in almost any car so i prefer to have a more fine control over the steering rather than having a very sensitive steering, i'm able to drive more smoothly with a higher ratio, especially in a car like the Stratos with such a short wheel-base, you don't really want to have too much steering input otherwise you'll lose a lot of time by excessively sliding through corners, the tires will also wear out much faster that way.
 
I've got another video, two laps at the Nordschleife with the Ford GT40 Mk IV. I wasn't really in the mood for a Group B car this time, but i'll still get videos of the others on my list eventually.

As with all of my videos, i'm not using any driving aids, i have realistic grip loss turned on, tire wear and fuel consumption on, steering sensitivity set to -2, and the default tire selection which for this car, is racing hard.

Not a Group B car again, but i think i would rather wait for GT6 to try those cars, the demo really felt amazing and up to par with a lot of PC sims.

So, instead i drove the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo:

No driving aids, not even the ABS. This time though, i kept the steering sensitivity at 0 because it actually felt more realistic that way, i think with the standard cars there's a bit of a difference in the physics compared to most of the premium cars which makes me want to use less steering sensitivity with them, but not with some of the premium cars. I also drove the Subaru BR-Z in game and it feels very realistic compared to what it did when it was first released on GT5, i've driven the actual car and although not really at race speeds, i did take it through some country roads at a pretty decent speed and it's surprising how close the GT5 version felt with comfort hard tires. That car is horribly slow so i didn't bother making a video of it though.
