Anyone compared their lap times against real life times at the Nordschleife? I did it in both GT4 and Enthusia. I see it as a small realism test for the game aswell. In GT4 I was usually alot faster than real life times, in Enthusia a little faster. In Forza 2 I'm a little slower than real life times, atleast at the moment :)

It's difficult to say what's official times, but I think the german car magazine Sport Auto ( http://www.sportauto-online.de/ ) is a good source, since they should be an objective source.

Here are a few selected times for those interested:

Aston Martin DB9 8.16 min 11/2004

Audi RS 4 8.09 min 06/2006

BMW M3 SMG 8.35 min 03/1997

Ford GT 7.52 min 02/2006

Honda S 2000 8.39 min 01/2000

Nissan 350 Z 8.26 min 10/2003

Porsche 996 GT3 7.54 min 06/2003

Porsche Cayman S 8.25 min 11/2006

Renault Clio Sport V6 8.49 min 07/2001

VW Golf GTI 8.53 min 11/2005

Good luck

Thanks. I've seen it before, but some of the times seem very fast compared to Sport Auto. I think some of the times are done with sports tires or other modifications. Sport Auto have also done some times with sport tires etc, but they specify if that's the case.

Most of thoes time are from Sport Auto. Other times are mostly set by the manufacturers test drivers, like the Carrera GT time. None of them are modified in any way, including the tyres. Except I suppose you could say tuner cars are, but thoes are stock in the sense that that's how they come from the tuner without asking for anything different.

Remember, you don't get penalty seconds in real life if you cut two wheels in the grass :)

Some of Sport Auto times are done on sports tires aswell, which are on the list with the link. Also if you compare the list of say the Cayman, it says 8:11 and Sport Auto have a time of 8:25. That's a big difference?

Sport Auto also did 8:24 with the Subaru Impreza in 2004 with sport tires, and the link have times like 8:10 in 1997, 8:28 in 1992 and we also have the Best Motoring time of 8:06 (Spec C)? It's a big gap.

Also I remeber reading an article with a Jaguar test driver, and he said a lot of manufactors put on special cup tires to get good times. If I remember correctly he estimated a gain of around 20 seconds with "special" tires, but don't qoute me on that. That's why I think a car magazine is a more realiable source than a car company. As I understand they test stock unless specified.

Atleast in Forza 2 some of the times in the link will be impossible to beat with a stock car. Try getting below 8:30 in the Impreza STI 04 or 05. I'm not so far off on the Sport Auto times, but some of the times in the link I'm very far off :)

Anyways let me know how you do, if you have compared some times.

Cheers

So, your point is what? That Forza 2 is a good game to judge a cars performance round the Ring? Give me a break.

Every time on that list has been put there after viewing it's source, thoes Subaru times are as official as any times you can find from Sport Auto. Just because they're faster it doesn't mean anything, perhaps the Subaru test driver that did them is simply better at the track driving an Impreza than the Sport Auto guys, and yes the cars we're stock. Using the fastest times rather than clutter the list with the same cars two, three or even four times. And yes, Sport Auto test stock unless especiied, there are Sport Auto times where the cars did have different tyres on, such as a 911 GT3 time that's has been left off the list, because it ran with different tyres. Also you talk about sport tyres as though real life is Gran Turismo, stock Impreza Sti's have what could be classed as sport tyres on them, saying "sport tyre's" when referring to sports cars is pretty damn open. A 911 GT3 doesn't come with the same type of tyres I have on my 306.

The point off course is that for the test to be interesting/fun you would be on same tires as the real life times. I would assume that the cars in Forza stock would have the same as real life. Like for instance if the GT3 comes with Sports/Semi-slicks/Cup tires whatever you wanna call it, so would the game. I just used the word Sport tires in search for a better word, and also that's the word they used on the Sport Auto page if I remeber correctly.

Off course I understand that the GT3 doesn't come with same tires as you're 306, but I assumed when it was specified Sports tires that they were not stock, otherwise why specify it??

Thanks for the list
