Too bad it's not a mile and a half cookie cutter, then Cup cars might run there again... Cause ya know, short track racing is the devil.

I know, the pavement is in good shape, the walls is good shape,They did some Late Model testing back in May when a other person was try to get the track back going,I hope that the track gets a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour or a ASA Southern Modified Tour date.

Got to use the embed code, under the url code on the left menu.

Boy... wouldn't you love to see all three of NASCAR's top series return there? One can only dream. I hear so much about all of NASCAR's history here. True renovation of this course could probably take 3-5 years. Great to see this course getting some loving after more than a decade.

Heh, awesome. I'm glad it hasnt' suffered the same fate as courses like Riverside.

and the Big Three NASCAR Series? Screw 'em. So long as this track gets some YouTube coverage, It'll be awesome. :3

Wasn't this track on the NASCAR 06 and 07 games under a different name?

I just realized that someone must be taking care of it for sometime now. The grass looks like it was just cut not too long ago.

No,If you are thinking about the Levi Track,The Levi Track is Concord Speedway(MY LOCAL TRACK),I race at Concord on the 1/4 mile oval in the Bandoleros.

There is an eerily beautiful look to that abandoned track; I always liked the NASCAR races at North Wilkesboro. I recall Jack Roush's new driver program (whatever it was called) used it for testing out the new guns, just because it attracted almost no attention.

A pity that NASCAR turned its back on it for the bigger tracks, though Bristol is as popular and "modern" as ever, without losing much of its soul.

Can't imagine the folding chairs staying, though! :dunce:

Aye...they'll have to get rid of that "Pontiac" logo. X3

It's odd...kind as if it's been locked in time since 1996. Pontiac is dead, Winston has been succeeded by Nextel and then Sprint...wild stuff.

That track cost less to run in '96 than Jimmie Johnson was paid in '09 as well probably. They've even got what looks to be wooden spotter towers.

It was locked up in 1996 because Burton Smith and Bob Barhe took the dates for Texas Motor Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

NORTH WILKESBORO SPEEDWAY IS BACK
Sep 3 and 4,2010(PASS)
Oct 3,2010(USAR)
Fall 2010(ASA Late Models)
? 2010(Frank Kimmel Street Stocks)

I'd trade both Fontana races AND both Pocono races for this and another SHORT track. Or even a street circuit would be sweet too.

I would trade 1 of the Fontana,Pocono and Michigan races for NWS and Bowman Gray Stadium(Cup Cars on a 1/4 Mile = TIGHT AND HARD RACIN)

Not to mention Sunoco is now the fuel supplier taking over Union 76. Time to take down the orange balls and put up the sun signs.;)

Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that the Pro All Stars Series will promote and sanction a 300 lap super late model race at Historic North Wilkesboro (NC) Speedway on April 7.8 and 9, 2011.

The winner of this unprecedented showdown for asphalt short trackers is guaranteed a minimum of $75,000.00. The event is tentatively set as a PASS South points race.

HOME ABOUT PASS NEWS SCHEDULES / RESULTS STANDINGS TRACKS MEMBERSHIP / RULES CONTACT
“I’m pleased that the partners at North Wilkesboro Speedway have agreed to present this historic short track event, “said Mayberry. “ We are announcing the race prior to the start of our 2010 PASS North and South schedules because we are building some additional bonuses into the purse for PASS competitors, including guaranteed starting positions for the top 15 in our final 2010 North and South point standings and an additional $25,000.00 winners bonus for the teams that choose to run all of our 2010 point races in either series, plus four of the PASS national events. That’s a $100,000.00 pay day for the race winner if they are a PASS regular, and a 20 percent bonus across the board for every starting position.. We also have an intermediate bonus plan that will see the winners share grow from $75,000.00 to $82,500.00 if he or she competes in any combination of ten PASS North or South events in 2010, plus a ten percent bonus from the base purse for every starting position. A PASS license is required to qualify for the bonus plans, but the base purse of over $153,000.00 will be enough to attract the cream of the crop from all over the USA and Canada to challenge our regulars.”

Thirty two cars will qualify for the 300 lap feature through time trials and qualifying races. Guaranteed starters and provisionals will be added to the field as needed. PASS anticipates a starting field of 40-plus for what’s bound to be the marquee super late model event of 2011.

“I see the April 2011 PASS race at North Wilkesboro as an opportunity to showcase super late model racers at one of the country’s historic short tracks The incentives I’ve developed are a means to encourage teams to race with PASS in 2010 as well, ” continued Mayberry. “I feel that it’s a great way to say thank you to the short track racers that are the backbone of our sport.”

Complete details on this record breaking short track event will be posted at www.proallstarsseries.com in the days to come. You’ll find Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway on line at www.historicnws.com .

The Pro All Stars Series gets 2010 underway at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway on January 29-30 with the PASS Winterfest 150, round one of the 2010 PASS National Championship Series.
