The Aurora Borealis was pretty stunning last week - took these with my phone.

If your weather is good tomorrow night, you should see them again as well. NOAA (which does a whole bunch of science related things in the US) says it should be a G4 storm hitting Friday and Saturday this week. I'm certainly ready,

Today is only the second time I've ever (including a trip to Iceland in 2007 where we DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE SKY) seen the aurora borealis, and it's fair to say this one - in my own village - is a bit brighter than the last display:

Looks like it's going bonkers tonight:

Saw this on the night of November 11, 2025, from behind my house in Panama City, Florida. My latitude is 30 degrees, 13 minutes, 24 seconds. It started as not visible to the naked eye, but could be made out on a 30-second exposure. What looks like a comet is actually lens flare from the light on the front of the house across the street.

A half hour later, it was naked-eye, and this is a 30-second exposure from that time.

This far south, what we get is the very high-altitude reds, basically the very top of the light show. The blues and greens are below the horizon. Still, it was THIS FAR SOUTH! I'm 68 years old and have never seen the aurora.
