I've got a little problem... I currently have Norton Systemworks 2003 installed on my system with an integrated version of Norton Antivirus 2003. My question is this... can I install Norton Antivirus 2005 over Systemworks 2003 to replace Antivirus 2003? My subscription for Antivirus 2003 has expired and I really would like to keep Systemworks 2003 for system maintenance.

Alternately, I may purchase the most recent version of Systemworks if this doesn't work. However, I would then have an extra copy of Antivirus since it is integrated into Systemworks also.

My suggestion is to not use norton products at all unless you have Norton Corporate ;).

Check out Avast! or AVG. Both have free versions available, and both will annihilate norton's home edition programs for their scanning capabilities.

I would not recommend installing two antivirus applications on the same computer at all. It really screws them up. Did it once, learned the valuable lesson, never will do it again.

I did it and was lucky to get the computer to actually boot twice so I could reformat it.

Uninstall the current the install the new.

Yeah, when you install it, it should ask you to uninstall all other antivirus or virus scanners that you have on your pc.

Yeah, I think under the setup or uninstall setup there should be an option to remove what you want, so remove Antivirus 03. Then, install 2005.

edit: Go to add/remove programs and find norton systemworks 2003 and click on "modify" or "uninstall"

NAV is a system resource hog. It's slow, and it bogs down the whole system. I suggest you use AVG instead, as someone else has already mentioned.

This worked... Thanks! I should have thoulght of it. I was afraid that I'd have to remove all of systemworks 2003 and not just antivirus 2003.

Now if only their updates were free like they used to be...
