I've decided to make some videos of the cars I have that can do the Nostalgic '79 series.
DBS3 at La Sarthe. Fully powered and set gearing to 2nd highest auto setting (~230mph). No other settings changed. Very quick along the straights, but a bit wayward in corners and you have to remember to brake much earlier than you need to in the other cars.

250GTO. Again, it's fully powered and lightened, and gearing set to ~224mph. No other settings changed.

Daytona Cobra. Fully powered and lightened. Gearing set to 217mph. Downforce to lowest.

And the XJ13. Is an easy win, and can't recall setup, but it doesn't really matter what you do. It's certainly easier to drive, and easier to get the clean race bonus, with full downforce.
Note: The DBS3, GTO and Cobra races are winnable with a clean race bonus as long as an AI 330 doesn't start in the first 3 places.
