My Conversational and Composition French II (French 312) requires that we do a 10 minute presentation in the French language. I picked the 24 hour race at Le Mans.
I've been researching and gathering photos and various information for some time, but I'm having a mental block on how to string it together and get the important stuff without sounding didactic. Granted, I don't know very much about Le Mans myself. Most people in my class don't know a thing about auto racing, let alone automobile racing in a different country.
I have pictures of the tack layout as it evolved, and will cover how cars got faster and faster and why the track changed. I'll also have some various rules (i.e. the one about distance driven that confounded some victories) and crashes that have changed the race. (SLR300, CLR, etc.)
Is there anything that the various GTP'ers know about this sport that I may not easily find? Any tips or random tidbits are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Chris

Well, first of all, is there a maximum time limit? Because I think you might be testing that. The only type of info I see missing is prominent drivers over the race's history, but like I said, you seem to have a lot of stuff to cover as is.

I'm aiming for around ten minutes for the presentation. It will be powerpoint with a few videos put in. (CLR flip, High speed on the Mulsanne)

I have 14 slides, with a video detour on the CLR-LM flip.

I have the original track layout,
the meeting of the president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest to create the race,
The track in 1989, the track now, and why the layout has changed.
I have the 1955 accident of Pierre Levegh
Female drivers at Le Mans
Jacky Ickx and tom Kristensen
the R8
and a GT40 taking the checkered flag.

I think I've got most of what I want.

Don't forget how the event is run, what type of vehicles are ran and some cool records like the top 5 fastest recorded speed.

I hate to say it or sound blood thirsty, but if you find the infamous 1955 crash or the 1981 crash of Jean-Louis Lafosse use it (think really hard about the second one...its graphic). It would show the amount of danger associated with this event.

This speech you're planning to do sounds interesting. ;)👍

Any chance you can do a video of yourself giving the speech in class and posting it to YouTube later on for us to look at?
