I found out earlier today that one of my cats is going to die. She has FIP(Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Its a contagious(sp?) disease that is fatal. The doctor told us that if we pet her that we have to wash our hands immediately to prevent it from spreading to our other 2 cats. I'm slightly afraid to touch her. We have to keep her in my mom's room til she passes away...whenever that may be. She has a very very very slim chance on surviving but the vet said he doubts it. He said she may have weeks, months, or even days. When I got home I just couldnt hold it in. I had to cry. Even now I'm getting alittle teary-eyed. As if our money troubles werent enough this has to happen. :(

Maybe I'll go play some NWN or CS:S to feel better.

I know how it feels to lose a cat. Our's had cancer. Hang in there. :(

Hmm... hang in there man. Life wouldn't be life without a few challenges along the way.

thats unfortunate, chances are i will loose my cat too one day, she doesnt live as long as me :(.

Hang in there mate, you wont be able to replace that cat, but you still have the other 2.

I think my cat is soon to go as well. He's morbidly obese (19lbs, my XBox weighs 16), and he's about 8-9 years old. My cousin just lost his cat, Doug (and the other is aptly named Bob), and it was like 16-17. That poor thing was SOO skinny though, it was almost gross to touch it. I could feel pretty much every bone in its' body, it was just sick. Poor thing, I don't think it suffered much though—they put him down a few weeks ago. I doubt Bob will last much longer. These are cats that are slightly older than I am, so it's going to be weird going over there and not seeing or petting Bob & Doug.

I was sitting in my room and sometimes it would come in and want attention, other times it would lying all over the walk way in the hall. One day while I was getting ready to go to hockey I walked across the hall to the bath room and it was dark because it was night. Well. I saw this black blob, it wouldn't move and it smelled around the area, so I turned on the light and it was my cat as always. I moved him and he meowed but oddly, I knew for some reason he was in pain. It turned out he some how got paralize like from the waist down. I had to go to hockey and thought he might be ok but when I called my parents from (at the time) my girl friend's house and they told me what happened. I couldn't believe it and my girl friend was more upset than I was. I really loved that cat too. :(

So I know what your going though Viper and I hope things work out for the good.

It's brother (litterally like Double Trouble with Jean Claue Van Dam's bad brother and ours was the good one because my mom scared the **** out of it that it had a **** load of fear like me. ) was given to my best friend and it has AIDS  (don't ask, I don't know) but it's still kicking. It's still always nice to see it because it reminds me of our cat. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I've lost cats to both natural causes and accidents, and it's always tough. Best of luck for the family, and I hope the pet's passing is quick and as painless as possible.

My Aunties cats have passed away lately, one of old age and one had to be put down. The one that had to be put down was deaf and was starting to be a little disturbed (I'm not sure what it was) and had to be put down. My Auntie, Uncle and cousin didn't take it well but the came through in the end.

I'm sorry for what you're going through though.

I feel your pain. I lost one of my cat's last year to Cancer (was only 9), and it was very tough. I don't think I've cried that hard ever. :(

Be strong mate.

Ya dude, your cat is huge, yet awesome. Yet you spin him around really fast on your computer chair. Isn't that like inducing a heart attack?

Well we talked to another doctor there at the Vetenarian(sp?) back on Monday. The doctor we usually go to see. She said the same thing as the other Vet but she said that we should wait a few weeks to see if there's any change. If theres none and our cat seems to be getting worse then we may have to put her(our cat) down so that she doesnt have to live any longer like this. This will be only the second cat I've lost. The last one lived to die of old age. He went blind not long before his death.

i lost a cat the day after i left for summer vacation last year, i got a phone call from my mom telling me he ran into the street after a squrril(stupid cat :dopey: ) he ended up getting hit by a truck and the driver just kept driving, what i am really worried about is my dog she just got a desease (i dont remember the name of it) and the vet said she only has about a month at best, only 3 months ago she was running around playing catch, eating food off the counter, i feel so bad now after the stupid things ive yelled at her for, (stupid human :indiff: ). sorry to hear about your cat man, losses suck just remember all the times and all that quirky ness that was packed in to that little body, memories alwise bring a smile to my face.

I'm sorry to hear that news. I've lost two cats already. my first one was attacked by a dog and when I brought him to the vet they said his lungs were pierced and also something in his throat. He had such a hard time breathing. The surgery was going to cost near $1000 and I had no job at the time, so i had no choice but to euthanize him. My family was on vacation so they couldn't help me out. So I had to say goodbye to my cat while he was in a little box getting ready to be put to sleep. he was crying to me and I was balling like crazy too. i only had him for 5 months and I loved that little guy.
My second cat was a girl and she had cancer. we got her from a shelter and she was still a little kitty. ever since we had her, we noticed she had a weird looking eye. It looked smaller than the other. We've only had her for a few days until we noticed her nose was always running, she was always sneezing, she always had eye gunk. Then one day, she just couldn't walk anymore. she would walk a little bit and then fall like her legs gave way. we rushed her to the vet and they said she had cancer. While at the vet, we had her in a towel. She would get up and then struggle to stay up, then she would topple over. She tried so hard to stay alive. But she couldn't hold on anymore. She fell for the last time and stopped breathing. Everyone in the room started crying. I miss those two cats. But now I have two other cats and they're alive and healthy. it still hurts to think about my other cats though...=(

sorry for the long story...

Almost the same thing has happened to me today.

My dog Smokey who I have had since I was 2, Im now 16 so he was 14. About a week and a half ago, he started really slowing down. Before this, he acted just like a puppy, no sign of his age. He stopped eating his nightly chicken wings but not his schmakos (I seriously think those things are dog drugs, he couldnt get enough and would scratch at us like a junkie when he didnt get one) and he was drinking a lot of water. We thought it was just because it was turning cold quickly so we just watched him closely. On Sunday we started to get really worried because he was getting skinnier and his back legs were really starting to go. On Tuesday while I was at school and then went to work, mum came home from her work and found Smokey laying in a puddle of his own spew so she took him to the vet. The vet held him overnight, first thinking it was a tick but the day after they realised he had something like cancer, he had broncitis and he had sugar diabetes. The broncitis was being treated but the sugar diabetes would need daily injections.

The vet held him since Tuesday and today when mum came home she told me that Smokey was put down earlier this morning. There were a few operations they could do but being such an old dog there wouldnt be much benefit and his life just wouldnt be the same afterwards.

This was just about 3 hours ago now and I have been a wreck since. Since my Dad died and my brothers moved out, it has just been Mum, Smokey and me. Mum works a lot and isnt exactly a barrel of fun so I just used to stuff around with Smokey a lot so losing him is a pretty big thing for me.

The worst part is I didnt get to say goodbye, I havent seen him since Tuesday and that really hurts.

Sorry to hear about your cat Viper, I know what you're going through.
