i played my first real game of ID ver.2

the drfting is well, not to be cocky or anything, but its easy. all i had to do was let off the accelerator and the thing flew sideways, maybe it was my choice of car? (lancer evo7) i got two cards, trueno and lancer. the lancer was easy but the trueno gave me a challenge. eventually i stuck with the lancer, beat tak and shingo, and got the stage 1 upgrade with option a.

all in all, it was fun

how about some posts of your first ID ver.2 experience?

if have played ver1. and in ver1 had the boost at the start of a race. (shifting to 3 real fast) it gave a REAL advantage and when i first tryed ver2 i was like WTF i can shift to thirf anymore. yes ID's physics on drifting arent really high. if you see your replay all you are doing is turn with the turn. you barely counter-steer in the game, but it is fun. i got an RX-7 Type-R. it grips the roads nicely

ID ver 1 and 2 are pertty ez to play ver 1 i have full tuend ek9,86,dc2 ver2 i have full tuned dc2,turbo levin and a new evo 3 pertty fun game but gets boring pertty fast

anyone here try kaido battle???
dopest drifting game EVER!!! physics are waaaayy realistic its near impossible to hold a drift and it takes ages to learn, however.....my buddy, whos had it since it came out, has mastered it, and watching him drift in that game is honestly nothing like u will ever see in gt3. check it out for urselves. AWESOME game!

My first Initial D experience was in Japan. I played it during my vacation there in the summer and before it came out in the states. I just watched the crazie pros at the arcades play a lil and figured out that all you had to do was let off the accelerator. Then I memorized their corner entry speeds and started playing with a Silvia S14 Q's. Too bad I didn't know how to get a card....

it's not hard at all. It's just that there's alot of people who like being cheap and buy the Integra. That thing like never slows down when you hit a wall hard enough for a normal car to slow down alot. The PS2 game has the same problem. They need to fix that if they're gonna make a version 3

um....they r already working on ver.3, which will also include the RX8 and Chow Ming (snow) and another track which i forgot the name. Also 2 more Lancer Evos will b added as well. on top of another few cars. And btw, when u crash with the DC2, it does drop alot of speed, and there's a penalty of about 3-5 seconds where the speed just cuts off if u crash hard enuf.

look at this for ID

why tokyopop is so gay

1.2. **** TOKYOPOP!
===================

Why am I so hostile towards Tokyopop? Well they are translating the anime and
manga to english here. And oh my god, did they butcher the anime BAD. They
feel that "Westernizing" the names will make the anime more popular. This is
not true! It only butchers the anime. It's like rape!

We true, pure Initial D fans thought it was bad enough for them to change the
names, but oh no, they went much further: The soundtrack HAS CHANGED. Instead
of my worries of listening to Limp Bizkit or Eminem. We got something much
much worse. What we got was this RETARDED rap by people who probably never
listened to rap or hip hop in their lives and it sounds like something from
Seasame Street. It goes something like "Da Eight Six Rolling down the track,
Initial Drift, Initial Passion *a bunch of other crap that I couldn't bare to
listen*" and THIS S*** REPLACED the energetic Eurobeat soundtrack!

They also CHANGED THE BATTLE SCENES. They tried to added more visual affects
to the car battles but it looked cheap and godawful. And get this, their
slogan for Initial D is "Initialize Your Dreams!" What kind of g** s*** is
that!?

They ARE targeting Initial D to a bunch of little bastard children who probably
don't know a thing about cars. People have been telling me that they think it
could appeal to children to find out about the REAL Initial D. 100% untrue.
Kids and other people are too racist and prejudice to care about the real
Initial D. They will never find out what Initial D REALLY IS. You want to
prove me wrong? BUY THE HONG KONG PIRATED DVDs, or if you can read Japanese
THE ACTUAL DVDs FROM JAPAN.

Tokyopop did piss anime fans off in the past however. When it was known as
Mixx Entertainment and they had their Mixxzine, they included Sailor Moon as a
special comic, then the owner of Mixx move Sailor Moon to another zine named
"Smile!" (What kind of name is that!?) So this pissed off a ton of fans, and
the Editor got so pissed he resigned. Anyways check below for list of name
changes.

Here's the list of names.

Crap Names - Real Names

Tak - Takumi
Iggy - Itsuki
Cole - Kouichirou
Natalie - Natsuki
Boss - Yuuichi
Ry - Ryousuke
K.T. - Keisuke
Zack - Takeshi
Maya - Mako
Simone - Sayuki
Kyle - Kyouichi
Hawk - Seiji
Aki - Wataru (Hey Tokyopop, Aki is not a American name! It's Finnish!)
Carrie - Kazumi (Wataru's sister)
Dice - Daiki
Smiley - Sakai (Sakai literally means Smiley I think)
Touch - Tomoyuki
Kylie (Previously Kia) - Kyouko
Danny - Kenta (What the hell is that?!)
Caine - Kai
Nobu - Nobuhiko (Uh, "Nobu" still sounds Japanese)
Sid - Tsukamoto/Sakamoto

However Shingo, and Bunta escaped with their real names. But doesn't that
defeat the whole purpose of changing the names in the first place!?

It gets worse. They are changing the dialogs, and get this they want to change
Takumi into a PIZZA DELIVERY BOY instead of Tofu delivery driver! Why? To
appeal to those big TV network corporate ******s and put the show on TV!

Also my friend Ryosuke had to sin and get volume 3 of the TokyoPop mangas for
some reason. This is what he found. I'm sure he will repent someday.

- Itsuki calling Takumi his "homie." like nearly every time.
Homie? No one said that since 1991!

- Tons of spelling and grammer errorz (like what I just did).

- Changing the dialog completely. (I.E. Takumi: "I'm not going to let a
dickweed like him win this race!")

- Natsuki Mogi's scences with Papa at the "hotel": DELETED.

- Listing the Trueno's engine runs on "Spirit, Talent, and Determination"
(STD!)

- Saying that a Rotary engine runs on one cylinder, thus more power (which is
completely WRONG.)

- Translation errors in future versions. Like saying Seiji Iwaki drives a
Lancer Evolution VI (he actually drives a Lan Evo IV).

- In another volume: Listing Takumi Fujiwara as a Akina SpeedStar even though
he is not a team member.

The whole result of "Americanizing" everything (which is like RAPE) is a
butchered Initial D that is also a slap in the face to Japanese names and
cultures (AKA Racisim).

And get this...One of Stuart Levy's excuses to why he prefers dubbed to
subtitles was; "subtitles covers up the art of the anime and ruins it." So
here he is trying to call himself an artist with that excuse, trying everything
he can to justify his butchering. Well I'm not a artist, but I believe I have
the right to say that what Levy said was irrelevant and ignorant. My belief is
subtitles are there to help people UNDERSTAND the whole art and concept of the
anime, while keeping it's original form intact. While dubbed ruins the
original form of this great piece of art (Initial D in this case.)

Another thing! I don't believe the Japanese change the names when any American
comics or cartoons are released in Japan. Like they don't refer Homer Simpson
as "Hiroshi Sato" or some crap like that. They don't change Super Man's real
name to a more "Japanese name." So why are the North American companies are
changing everything to sound more "American"? It's a form of racisim!

Now TokyoPop released a DVD with the original copies of Initial D on it. BUT!
It also contains the "translated" episodes too. TokyoPop (while trying to
appeal to teenagers in a pathetic, half-assed matter) calls it the "Tricked Out
Edition." They also said it has "enhanced battle scenes" and you can do a
bunch of other crap with it. "Enhanced battle scences"? Good god! How did
they butcher the battle scences like Keisuke vs. Takumi for the first time? I
don't want to know! Avoid it all costs. Besides, it's the first three
episodes on DVD for in Japanese and English. So it's more like paying $20 for
JUST THREE EPISODES!? What a rip off. You can get the translated DVDs by
independent translators with all of the episodes for $40 Canadian on 4 DVDs!
Do the math.

The best way to boycott Tokyopop is to NOT buy ANY of their products. Buy fan
translations of the anime instead! You can get those in places where there is
a big Asian community. A note for the DVD owners: Buy the real versions, not
the burned DVDs. The burned ones don't work on all machines!

So that's pretty much it. **** TOKYOPOP!

thats to lonewolfe

tokyopop has decided to ruin Initial D, ****ing fantastic

Wow..my title says "Anti-Inital D" but that deos suck. I'm not a huge fan, but that still does suck..A pizza boy..Tsk..

HEy can anyone give me some tips on the ID.2 game? i guess it sounds pretty easy but i think im going to the mall tomorow and its the only place that has the game and i have to try it. Also how do u get the cards? Is there an option or do u have to do something?

thanks

I have the second American DVD of the Initial D series, and it totally blows. Like when the black GTR shows up, instead of playing the dracula overture they play some crap rap music. Its all trashed and I feel disgraced by the people who did the Americanizing. Buying the Originals is the best way to show your support, the american stuff is just a plot to make money.

The ID arcade game is also crap in its way. Everybody I know drive the Teg Type R. It revvs high and is the best overall car for Irohazaka and Happo. I prefer to drive the Cappuccino by Suzuki. Tons of oversteer and makes it a real drift game. Its all about the Cappuccino!

suprafly you are totally right.
i watched season 1 and 2 in the original versions with subtitles. not like the ones of kazza that explain what every car is and whatnot (and lamely attemp to subtitle the themesongs).
after watching the series in japanese, you have more of an appreaciation of whats going on in the show, you understand exactly why they are getting excited about the certain drift, in the real initial d, they are very technical and detailed, however, i forsee that the dubbed versions wont say "whoa look at that high speed braking drift", rather i fear they will dub it in with "whoa what a phat slide"

stick to the real **** if u wanna get the story right, ur watching sumthing japanese, watch it in japanese.

that is why u buy the DVD's from Asia or something.....the North American translations are horrible...they had to modify it to fit the North American society and culture

I played lots of initial D ver. 2....that game totally eats your money away....it's not really about skill, rather, it's more about how fast your car is and how much money u spent to learn the game

the Integra is no-doubtly the best car in the game....it is so good that it gets cheap and frustrating when other people battle you with their totally souped up, 3million+ cars....so the key is to beat the opponents that have high high points by skill....that's why I dig...I find people that are racking up the points, then I challenge them, even though I'll be severely disadvantage (points-wise)

If you want to specialize in Akagi, then you'll have to us the FD RX7....and to specialize on Akina, the Suzuki Cappuchino OWNS at that course (If driven properly, of course)

The key to version 2 is not to hit anything....controlling speed of car when entering into turns and late-apexing....otherwise, u'll heavy understeer....

If you notice that you'll soon run into a guardrail, have no fear...just release off the gas pedal...cuz it appears the amount of speed suffered from hitting a guardrail is relative to how much of the gas pedal was depressed during the collision time

The hot car in version 3, I think, is the GC8V...and the newly added mountain is Shomaru.....the location where the AE86 Trueno raced the turbo-charged AE86 Levin...

Chow Ming = Cantonese translation for AKINA.
