abaxas, to me, a big part of being able to change individual gear ratios is that I can make 1st and 2nd gears taller thus making them a little less useless in high HP cars. the second you use the top speed slider, the individual ratios reset. if the relative gear heights remained the same when using the top speed slider, it'd be alright but, they don.t

Yes. Adjusting the final drive changes all the gear ratios by an appropriate amount and will adjust the top speed. Basically, if you're using individual gear ratios you never touch the Top Speed setting and just use Final Drive per track to set your transmission.is final drive adjustable?
if you adjust final drive does it move the individual ratios as well?
In GT5 you have the worst of the two worlds: unrealistic, almost unlimited choice of intermediate gear ratio values, but total range severily limited for each gear, less than what it would be possible in real life.we do need to be able to save setups.
i never really wanted to be able to adjust the gears individually. Since the majority wanted it, i never really went against it. The reason is that in real life you dont have the ability to make over 1000billion different gearing combinations for a car with a racing transmission. You have to make a comprimise and select only the best or closest teeth-combo you have available for your car.

I think there should be an Online Tuning Library function where we can upload & download each others tunes, can't belive they've not done that already to be honest. Instead, they took away the ability to save just the 3 tunes, evolution PD not devolution!
