From 750 cars in the US version to 730 in the European one... (and that's confirmed number for the Europe one, I sneaked a peek in the official guide as to the correct number ;)) just what did happen to those 20 cars?!

I have my suspicions as to why, but I'd be interested to hear from anyone who might have an idea where they went...

And - out of curiousity - whether the Euro/Australian game hackers amongst you have actually found those cars buried deep in code somewhere... or are they gone completely..?

Cars like (for example) the prototype Acura...

(By the way, this isn't the first time it's happened... in GT3, an awful lot of Formula 1 cars went mysteriously AWOL too...)

Some of the 'missing' cars have been replaced by others. I don't think the Yanks get the Jag XJR for 50% completion and I'm definately sure they can't get the Peugeot 905 (but I still might be wrong).

PAL runs at 50 Mhz (so I assume 50 fps) whereas NTSC is 60 Mhz (60 fps?)

As for the cars this is where it gets interesting...

Original Japanese/Asian (NTSC) releases (3 versions) have 710 cars (oncluding the old Mini Cooper 1.3i)

Next up was the American (NTSC) release with 722 cars (no old Mini or Esso-Ultraflo Supra but other new cars)

Final releases (same day):

PAL release has 730 cars (no old Mini, Esso-Ultraflo Supra is present, remaining 7 cars are a duplicate set of Opels badged as Vauxhall)

Korean (NTSC) release has 726 cars (no old Mini, Esso-Ultraflo Supra is present, 4 new Korean cars - Hyundai Click Type R, Hyundai Tiburon Turbulence, Hyundai Tuscani CCS and Lexus IS200 Korean Racer)

Those last four I took pictures of for my Web site here:

http://www.rogs.dial.pipex.com/PhotoMode4.htm

Technically the Korean NTSC has the most cars as the Vauxhalls only have different badging from their Opel equivalents.

Where 750 comes from I don't know.

EDIT:

US=721 cars. Not 750. No clue where you acquired that info.

the one thats missing is the ford gt with stripes.. the yellow one.. right?.. as for the rest of the 'missing cars' i assume that theyve been rebadged to the appropriate region. The acura concept.. are you referring to the DNX?. i think it was rebadged as a honda, and you get it wen you get all gold in the b license

Isn't the Acura DNX the Honda DualNote in real life? And doesn't the DualNote have some sort of hybrid system? If so, did they change it as an Acura on purpose (with permission from Honda of course) so they don't have to use the hybrid system?

Speaking of which, can anyone tell me if the Toyota Voltz is a real vehicle? Yeah, I know it's called the Matrix here in the USA, but did they even change the car's looks from the Pontiac Vibe? I think it even has the Pontiac logo on it still. Photo Travel should clear this question up.

I saw a Toyota Voltz whilst out on the town last night.

Thats alot of cars you know

erm...we would assume that.....

and those cars that are in the korean version are quite sweet! the lexus is 👍 :sly:

I got the Jag XJR9 for 50%, and the Peugeot 905 can be bought for 3.5 Mil.

As for yanks? I don't like em either... Then again you don't understand that all americans aren't yanks, just the hippies from NY.

When GT4 was presented in Europe, it was said the Euro version got more cars than the Asian and North American versions.
They listed as extra:

- Alfa Romeo GT
- Audi Nuvolari Quattro
- Golf IV R32
- Auto Union V16 Type C
- Chaparral 2J
- Peugeot 905

No if it is true or not I do not really care. All I know is that we do not have the original Mini.

I know the Chaparral 2J and Audi Nuovolari are in the US version, not sure about the rest.

We get all those.

There's another thread on this, comparing NTSC and PAL. Seek and ye shall find!
IIRC, PAL gets rebadged Opels and maybe one other car. Not that exciting.

As to why? Minor licensing squabbles?

Um, well i havent actualy got the dual note in GT4 yet.. which is the DNX. But in gt concept they had the dual note and it was a hybrid system. So i dunno what happened there. As for the toyota voltz.. yes its real it shares the same platform and is rebadged as many many different names. In australia they have the mitsubishi outlander, then theres the Volts and the matrix.. i think theres a couple more too.. but.. *shrug*.. im only one man!

They're all there like jdw said.
