Number change on race cars

Just bought the BMW Z4 GT3, but I am not able to change the number on the side of the car, even though that the button appears in the garage as “driver number”. The button is just not active.
What race cars have you experienced, where the driver number change is not functional?
 
you can change numbers only on cars that have no number when stock (kart,base model race cars,RM cars..)

The Z4 GT3 is a real livery and can therefor not be changed. Why there is no basemodel of the Z4 Gt3 i do mot understand though. Would love to have a basemodel for that one.

Thank you for clearing that up. So I guess that if I want a premium GT3 car were I can customize the number, it has to the GT-R base model, the SLS or the Audi R8 ultra (without the livery).
 
All race car numbers should be able to be changed imo, regardless of whether they already have a livery. Also, we should be able to buy a race number from GT Auto for any car. That would make organised online championships a bit more fun. :D
