Hi guys!

I would like to porpose a Nurburgring challenge! But not using full spec race cars

2004 Lotus Elise - Toyota engine one
2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR
2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Spec C
2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R (any version)
2002 Honda NSX-R
2002 Honda Integra Type R
2005 BMW M5
2003 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG

All cars must be stock horsepower and weight

No ASM or TCS

MT mode only (don cheat)

I will post times soon.

you say "stock horsepower and weight", but what about tyres, oil change, suspension?

A little more thought and planning, and this could be a good idea.
Maybe check out some of the competitions we already have here, and come up with guide lines for your competition with all the specifics to make it an even playing field. 👍

I'd like this competition, if only the rules are more clear. I think only MT is nonsense though.

Good idea bud..👍 I will be sure to try it when i put my ps2 on.
Although i think you should maybe scrap the manual transmission rule, unless there is a reason behind this rule????
I myself use manual but there are a lot of people who don't and even find it very difficult to use manual, so it would be a tad unfair on these guys not to be able to take part in the challenge.

Hi Tachi,

Welcome to GTPlanet!

Check out this part of the forum, https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=12 where you can post your ideas for online competitions, etc.. you'll also find the Weekly Race Series in there as well (there's a link to the WRS in my sig below :) )

Happy racing...

TM

P.S. This week's WRS race is at the Nurburgring... Audi TT Touring Car... 👍 👍

Thanks guys! ok, I guess I should make the rules more clear.

The objective is to make the race without a power advantage.
However, the tunability of the car's handling is up to the driver. This is similiar to stock Group N races we have in Singapore and Japan.

The rules are:

1. Stock Power
2. Stock Weight
3. Oil Change is allowed (following Group N rules)
4. S3 tyres only.
5. MT at AT optional (since now you can actually hold the gears)
6. No TCS or ASM
7. Stock gearbox

Now here is the catch.

1. Suspension change and setting is allowed, because the setting is up to the experience and skill of the driver to use it to his advantage. Because I have tested that on a 100% stock car, the lap times are very close if you try consistently. Tuning the suspension can be used to your advantage and this is crucial even in real racing.

2. Clutch must not be more than Super Single. Because this is closest to real type of clutch and shifting time in a stock car. Stock clutch is too slow, most drivers can shift faster than that.

3. LSD is optional so is AYC torque split controller, because in the real Evo and WRX, these things are tunable.

4. TCS and ASM is only allowed in the BMW and Mercedes Benz, because the real car has ESP, ABC, ASC+T.

I hope the conditions will now give more fair play and fun. I feel the fun is in figuring out the suspension settings because the Nur is no joke (I have driven there before) optimising the chassis to suit your driving is key.

This challenge is for pure fun of the sport (even if it is virtual) because completing the game to 100% is one thing, but I feel the appeal of GT is in putting your best lap times.

If anyone has a suggestion on any other cars for the competition please list them.

Thank you

If you want to add cars like RX-7, please put up your list, but you must also put your times. Basically the challenge for any road going stock car with the above conditions are ok but if anyone wants to put a challenge you must lap the car with a time so people here can try to challenge it.

I will have my list up soon because I am working on the BMW. (it is difficult)

Hi TachiTJRS,

Not taking anything away from your ideas, but please have a look at the WRS competition pages (as Touring Mars suggests)...may be there is an idea of how to combine the WRS with your views...

The races there are interesting, challening and the organiser(s) do a good job alternating between cars, tracks and various modifications....and you will find some v e r y serious racers there. And you will be put in categories ,which lets you check out on a weekly basisif/how you are improving, and you even get promoted higher if you really shine!

Enjoy!

Good Idea 👍

Can I suggest:

All above.

+

Start one lap only(not flying start) - with good start You can get 1-2 sec advantage.
Post lap time(+video link to proof Your lap time - from start - if its the best at the moment).
Any serial domestic car - will be better competition to compare cars from all years and all world companies in GT4.
Upper Engine Power limit - 350HP?
Power/Weight ratio limit.
No downforce.

It will be better to move this thread to the Online racing.

This is better suited for one of the OLR forums.
