hey all

my mate and i were thinking about doing the Nurburgring 24 hour enduro.

The car of choice was going to be the RX-8 race car (the one with the colour's like the 787B).......i forget the exact name.

however we are going to put it up to about 800hp+, will this car be good enough to have a chance in the enduro?

and what tyres should i use?

any help appreciated.

P.S. i have searched and nothing has come up, if i missed something, please 're-direct' me, or if its in the wrong place please move it!!

thanks again.

I think there probably are other threads about this, it's quite a common query.

But to answer your questions, that car certainly should be good enough. If I remember correctly, the competition is not very strong, Lotus Elise sort of standard or so. People have won this race with much slower cars than yours. And I would use super hard (racing) tyres at the back with hards at the front. In those sorts of cars the back tyres wear out quicker because that's where the power comes from. If you use softer tyres, you might have problems because you have to go a long way before you can pit, and leaving the track at the Nurburgring can be very costly.

Hope that helps!

I advise you to keep it at the stock power. That will be enough to win the enduro.

ok.......ill take it back to the 650hp (i think)

thanks for the tyre advice mark.......i'll post up later on what happens in the race.......im considering whether i should keep a diary of what happens in the race.....i know its interesting for some people to read, but can i really be stuffed pausing the game each time i overtake someone??? lol

thanks guys, lots of help!! :)

Also, if you're going through the night doing this one, Downing a few Red Bulls could Help.

I think you're mixing this up with the 4hr Nurburgring race, markj_87, the field there is mainly stock road cars like the Lotus Elise, Opel Speedster, Pontiac GTO, etc.

The 24hr Nurb' race is made up from DTM and JGTC300 cars.
The RX-8 LM should walk the race in stock form. People have done this race in the Clio Sport Cup Car and the S2000 LM which have almost 200HP less than the RX-8 LM and still won, so you should be fine. Good luck with it, it's the only 24hr race I haven't yet completed, and I'll be A-speccing it sometime in the near future.

Please do, but just do hourly updates, look in these 2 threads for inspiration & advice:-

You should probabaly let the Moderators/Super Moderators brandish the AUP and play police (via Report... You know...), afterall, it's part of their role as (Super) Moderators. I suspect a severe bought of 'speed typing' is the cause here. But hey, I like to see good English too 👍 Smallhorses.

💡 Looking forward to hearing about your race, Tee-Jay.

Cars I have won it with. 1st time 787B (which i regret), Camaro Race Car LM, RX7 LM, RX8 LM, FTO LM, S2000 LM, Corvette C5-R, Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca. Mainly with stock form.

The Opera S2000 can also win a 200pt race.
There is no need for that much horsepower.

Just test your car til the first or second pitstop and judge your car then.

Cheers,

The RX8 Race Car will easily win.
I've used,

Mercesdes CLK AMG Race Car
Spoon S200 Race Car
Opera S2000
TVR 350C

In general, I believe that enduros are more about tire wear than top speed. Getting an extra lap out of a set of tires at the Nurb is fairly important over the span of 24 hours. The more often the competition has to pit really adds up in your favor.

The Suzuki GSXR\4 is a cake walk in this enduro, 190hp, fully lightened, R1 tires, wing, and upgraded drivetrain, and brakes, is all you need.
I just finished this enduro in it and won by 15 laps.

If you have not started the race as of now, I would recommend figuring out a fuel strategy before you start the race. It can be very difficult to do calculations and test different strategies unless your car allows you to make up for missing a pit.

I don't think you need that much power in that race as it is. First time around I used a standard Aston Martin Vanquish (albeit with harder slick tyres) and I buried the competition (with it being on B-Spec most of the time).
