Suspended the race at 4 laps when I had to go in for fuel. So far its still raining which is allowing me to outrun them by a minute and thirty seconds a lap. I def feel like the GTR you suggested is handling better on the track. I think Im comfortable enough to take this car all the way to the end.

I'm part way into the same race with the GTR-R35 too. I'm 5 hours in, so far a completely dry race (I'm preying for rain as I know the GTR's ability to put its power down will rule supreme) but currently running 3rd, about 3 mins 30 down on the leader, an R8 Racecar '01. 2nd is another of the same.
Some stats you might find interesting. In the dry, if driving fairly smoothly but still on lead car pace:-
1. The GTR is consuming 17 litres of fuel per lap
2. On RS tyres, you can only get an outlap and an in lap (2 laps)
3. On RM tyres, you can make 3 laps per pit.
4. Headlights switched on automatically at the 5 hrs milestone. now running in 'twilight' conditions but sun still visible in places
4. The leaders are 'averaging' 8 mins 30s per lap, including their pitstops. THey both seem to be on RS and pitting every 2nd lap.
It therefore follows that in the dry, to 'maintain position', you need to be running 17 mins per set of RS tyres, or 25 mins 30 per set of RM. Anything better will see progress.
Hope this helps. Please share more as the race progresses.
