Dave sent me his thoughts for the final weeks of the series. They are as follows:

Week 11 - Race Cars up to 200 HP (Small)
Week 12 - Race Cars 200 - 350 HP (FF & Rally)
Week 13 - Race Cars 350 - 450 HP (Rally Group B & Some JGTC)
Week 14 - Race Cars 450 - 650 HP (Zonda LM, etc.)
Week 15 - Race Cars 650 - 1000 HP
Week 16 - Ruf Yellowbird - Oil change, N3 tires, Sports Suspension (which is stock)

This seems to make sense so I'm sticking with it. My initial thoughts are that the cars would be offered in stock form with only an oil change. Maybe a full custom suspension if it's not stock on the lower HP cars?

I intend to post selections Fridays with voting closing Sundays with racing deadline the following Monday...just like Dave was doing it. Gameplan is to re-start next Friday, Jan 13, 2006.

Part of the reason I've started this thread is informational. I'm also asking if there are particular cars that anyone would like to see on particular weeks. Where HP ranges are appropriate I will offer cars from JGTC & DTM, etc. fields. So if anyone knows any sleepers or has favorites I'd like some input. I intend to stay away from cars that might only be available as prize cars through the longer race series' but I will likely offer the Sauber and Formula car on week 15. I assume that won't be a problem as most probably have those or could obtain them between now and then. You might want to build up your bank as these cars can get quite expensive.

I hope you guys will stick with me...this is still Dave's series and I intend to finish it as such.

Thanks again Ronny, looks like you got things under control. Just let me know if you want the car lists and also the leaderboard for updating purposes.

David

As I noted in a PM please send me your list and the leaderboard as I will be needing as much help as possible.

I've mapped out possible car selections and I'm concerned especially about week 14 and 15 where nearly all the cars are prize cars from the more difficult and lengthy events and series. I'd like some input from the group. I will likely post voting for these events a week earlier than normal so that everyone has a chance to obtain the cars over a bit longer period of time. In week 15 I intend to offer the Sauber and anyone who doesn't have one will have to race the Formula GT series (15 long races, of which you might need to win about 9 or 10) and of course if you don't have the Formula car you'll have to get one of those to race in the Formula GT series.

Of course there are enough cars to fill up the list with purchasable vehicles but the most interesting cars are only available as prize cars.

The Zonda LM could also be problematic as its a prize car for Mission set 3 and maybe only available as a one time prize?

Again, I'd like some input relative to this...I don't want to exclude potential competitors because of car availability problems.

Ill see if i can get an ubersave sorted in here for both the PAL and NTSC versions of the game.

To me, if you're serious about online GT, you have a spare mem. card you can dump this 4.5 gazillion credit save onto, with all the cars and money and game completion you would ever need to run any online race, and if people cannot find a card, or borrow one, or buy one, then they arent serious enough IMO.
I know im not right, and not everyone has access/funds to just go get one, but memory cards are surely not that expensive or hard to borrow these days are they?

That would solve your problem goixoye anyway.

Ill be back with news.

Im soooooooooo glad you two are collaborating and keeping this thing alive, i dont want week 16 to come...only if 17 follows it!

Glad to see you back here Dave, and good luck with the headaches goixoye!

:irked:👍

Aha, no need to PM the chippers then!

Nice one Small.... thats just what we needed!

Thats one problem solved, now if we can just start a "send us your old memory cards" charity, we'll be sorted.

Thanx Dion:tup:

No worries mate! 👍

Ive got 4 memory cards

One for me, 16mb Max memory card
One for Dad, 16mb Max memory card
One for Shaun, 8mb Sony card
One for Troy, 8mb Sony card

Plus maxdrive to put **** on the PC, its all good 👍

I suggest buying the max memory cards as they are cheaper and they work very well for us.

I've got 4 memory cards too plus a flash drive or jump drive or whatever you call it. They're all mine...I don't have to share them with my kids or anybody. I have a codebreaker so I have a gamesave with all the cars too. I realize I'm at the lower end of mediocre compared to other driver's but I'm about 95% complete (on my own) with 5 golds and 75 silvers. I've not completed some of the "Normal" nor most of the "Hard" events (dirt or snow events mostly) in the Special Conditions Hall which means my access to the higher end rally cars is via my codebreaker gamesave. But I hate the rally events so I haven't been too concerned about not having those cars. I actually haven't even attempted those events yet.

I was more concerned about others who may not have access to these cars. But if I'm medocre and can obtain them without a "cheat" device then everybody else here can too. For some events its just a matter of time...for instance completing the Formula GT 15 race series to win the Sauber would take me more than one week given the amount of time I have to play. IF you have the Zonda LM but have raced it into high mileage you may even need to start GT4 over again to work your way through the "Missions" to reobtain one.

But anyway I've not heard about any "favorites" that people would like to see on the list. Hopefully Dave will send me his list...otherwise you'll be leaving the 5 voting selections up to me.

I have noticed that Dave's proposed sequence puts 2 categories of cars into Week 15. There's a nice group of cars at 800HP and then a cluster between 900-950HP. Currently I'm leaning toward offering the 900HP level. What about an extra week to include both of these categories? Or eliminating the lower end race cars (Up to 200HP)?

Hi gang ... I'm going to start racing after a few weeks off, but things seemed to have moved on in a few departments.

Can someone tell me what the *current* race week thread is? I'm not sure what week we're on, what we're running or what the deadlines are.

What's happening with Dave_George???

Dave's had some personal issues and has dropped out...for now.

I'm going to finish out the series on his behalf. Right now Dave and I are communicating on HIS intentions for the completion of the series (car selections, tires, etc.).

This Friday (Jan 13, 2006) I will post voting information for Week 11. Voting deadline will be Sunday (Jan 15, 2006) 9pm GMT (= 4pm US EST). Submission deadline for the week racing will be the following Monday (Jan 16, 2006) 9pm GMT. Basically the same sequence & times that Dave used. My intention is that the series finishes as Dave intended and hopefully he will be able to rejoin us and maybe reassume the administrator role (although reading between the line of his posts I don't really expect that but it seems as though he might be able to compete some weeks).

I hope you will continue to participate and hope that you had a wonderful holiday. I'm glad to see you back around...it just hasn't been the same without you.

Thanks Goixoye. So this week is going to be a missed week? There isn't a race currently running?

No. There isn't a race in progress. I think this is the 2nd week we've not had a race. It was about the middle of last week (I think) when Dave indicated he would be dropping out. It took a little while for me to decide to volunteer to take over and now I'm just wanting to get a few more details from Dave (primarily his intentions relative to the car selections for each week) and then we'll be ready to go.

Hopefully folks will continue to participate. This is definitely getting into the meat of the series. Going through car lists on my own there are so many cars I want to drive it's hard to narrow the field down to just 5 for voting purposes. Week 11 actually seems to be the easist week as there aren't too many cars in the "Under 200HP" category. But after that there are a world of great cars. Week 15 (650-1000HP) is the most difficult as there seems to be two separate groupings of cars in that category (around 800HP and then 900-950HP).

I've asked for people's favorites so I don't overlook any cars but so far nobody's come forward. If you have some please let me know. I really need to hear from Dave soon or I'll have to go ahead based on just the HP levels he's given me because I need to try to emulate the glitz, polish and professionalism and be taking some pictures of the cars for the voting post.

Id suggest if i had had time to look this week, but so far its been a bit busy.

nice to see Nat back, sorry i missed you at customs girrrrl.

:sly:

Goixoye, well done for stickin in there, though i can see the proverbial sweat on your forehead already!
Dont panic, even if its a 4 runners race, it will be fun!
Im sure whatever you do, both Dave, and all the racers who turn up will be proud of, so panic over, yes yes yes break those categories into 2 and we'll have an extra week of racing, and i will smile some more!

Good luck, and stick with it!!

:irked:👍

I wouldn't worry about what cars people have or don't have. Just list 5 cars and let us vote. I am sure if there isn't enough people who have the car in their gamesave that it won't win the vote.

Some final thoughts before we re-commence.

Dave has indicated that his intention to progress up the racing tire range and finish on R5s. So, Week 11 = R1s, Week 12 = R2s and so forth.

Dave has also indicated that he wouldn't offer the PD Formula car and the Toyota Minolta as they are possibly overused as the "fastest" cars so don't expect to seem them the last week.

I'm also leaning toward extending the series by one week to pick up both groupings of cars in the 650-1000HP range. 800HP+/- and 950HP+/-.

So if you have any thoughts on these 3 issues please let me know.

I think the tyre progression is a good idea, provided we remain a constant in terms of the tuning required, as we wont feel the benefit of the different compounds unless the tuning is a fixed variable.

The tyres are designed to last longer as well as give less/more grip, are they all going to give us one lap?
R5's?

Hmm....

I dont mind not using the really fast cars either, i mean, they are a boooger to keep on the track at the best of times, especially on the limit, and people are going to get very frustrated, falling off all the time. skipping them would be fine by me.

and finally, as i already said before, and im sure many will agree....

yes yes yes yes please do anything that means we get an extra week of racing!
I'd like an extra year.
:irked:👍

Tire wear is not a factor in "practice" or time-trial or whatever you want to call it.

I'm not sure what you mean by tuning being a fixed variable. The only way to truly feel the difference in tires is to race the same car with the different tires leaving EVERYTHING else about the car the same. Anyway weeks 15 and 16 will be R5s then back to reality with the Yellowbird and N3s.

Glad to see the NRS still kicking, thanks for taking up the reins Ronny 👍

I'm not a huge fan of those 800HP+ machines on the Ring, but I'll give em a
try and see how I go :scared:.

I'm with vexd on wanting this series to continue on indefinatley in some form
or other ( but always in GTMode ). The Nurb deserves a series dedicated to
it, there are so many great cars we havnt tried or have passed over in the
voting that it's just crying out to continue on, dontcha think :sly:.

So count me in for the resumption of the series, and hopefully a continuation
when Daves original plan to end the season finishes.

Sorry Goixoye, had ma head on backwards yesterday...

Im with steve here, lets keep it running if we can, for as long as possible...

Its a great series, and we should try to keep Dave's legacy alive.
Looking forward to the nest round!
