Very very very awesome vid.......though, greatest show of car control ever??...... snow drifting is really easy...... The less grip you have to begin with the easier it is to drift, and less angle you need/want. Dry fresh pavement is the hardest thing to drift on because it has the most grip, followed by dry tarmack, then wet pavement, then wet tarmack, then gravel, then snow, then ice having the least grip....actually ice takes it too far and has SO little grip that it makes it too easy to overdrive the turn and makes it hard again. So, as long as you know the course like the back of your hand and the car just as well if not better, and don't go too fast for the turn (no way of making up for it if you do) most any drifter could do that first try. Just maybe not quite that good.... But still, it was captured perfectly.

That's one of the best vids I've seen, it captures the beauty and art of car control and drifting perfectly. And yes, I agree that that guy is highly skilled and did that perfect. Even the dry gripping part made me drool.

A slight correction I said its 'one' of the finest displays of car control, not the finest (that in my book is Climb Dance).

In regard to how hard or difficult it is, well drifting at slow speeds on ice or snow is easy; but at a decent speed (as in the video), in a rear engined car, around the 'ring. Well that for me is quite a different matter, particularly as I've been to the 'ring and you need to keep in mind the lack of run-off and the very narrow margin for error.

That "most any drifter could do that first try", even if you knew the 'ring well, I doubt many perople would agree with that, particularly those that have been to the 'ring.

The drifting in this particular video is not that outstanding, but Tim Schrick is a prefect drifter on dry tarmac aswell... There is a TV magazine called "Motorvision" in Germany and they have a special very small handling course, a little like Motorland in GT2 but with far more extreme elevation changes. They drive all the cars from Sclasses over Porsches and Evo's to Elises etc on that small course and you can almost finish a lap drifting all the way through. It looks very spectacular ( lap times vary between 20 sec and 35 sec ) and Tim Schrick is the one who drives... he also takes part in the 24h race of Nürburgring every year...

Sorry do disappoint you No it isn't... the front tires are not spinning, they are just moving. Look closely and you'll see it. Apart from the fact that they say it in the video

I do agree with this. I'm sure he's going faster and at higher angle than it looks like he is because I know from experience how video taping makes things look alot less impressive.

And yeah, the ring is a bear. Even in video games. I can't imagine doing a 13 mile lap like that in the snow........ If he made one mistake it'd a been over. And 13 miles is a lot of chances to make a mistake......especially being snow blind like that. Any of those slides he did were unnimpressive taken individually, but doing that for 13 miles at those speeds........yeah, I see what your saying. 👍

Then watch it again and have a look at how many times he went around to get all the angles.

They did at least two runs, one with the cameras mounted on the car for the close shots, wheel cam, etc. Then at least one more run to get the aerial shots from the trackside and helicopter, as you can't see any cameras mounted on the car in these shots (but you can see the shadows on some of the car based shots).

I think he did at least two, if not more laps, the tyre tracks woud also indicate that as well.

Still, maintaining that level of control in a RR car is tricky at those speeds on snow. I have enough trouble with my MR2 on snow with modest sliding at modest speeds, and thats on roads I know and can see where they are.
