Obtrusive Ads

I just thought I'd report a rather obtrusive and annoying ad.

It expands down as shown above whenever it happens to be on a page that you're viewing on GTP. Once when the page loads, and additional times if you happen to accidentally rollover it with the cursor.
It takes you here - http://www.vonage.ca/backtoschool/ .

(I'm about this --> || far from getting premium, just to get rid of the ads).
 
Actually, that would be an Intrusive ad. It intrudes upon your reading space. Obtrusive is along the lines of a blatant or prominent ad.

Either way it seriously detracts from the content GTP provides.

Why not be this far || ---> and have premium. It doesn't exactley cost an arm and a leg and just think, all the time spent thinking about it could be time spent having it.

Yeah, every time I log in, that stupid HIT THE TURKEY AND GET AN XBOX 360 ad goes full screen, absolutley annoying!
 
I found noe too. This time it's from everyones favorite electronics store, Circuit City.

DA: Intrusive, that's what I was looking for.
L4S: No credit card = No premium. I think I've got a wee bit of money in my paypal account, but I've gone and forgotten the p/w for it (and the email that my dad used to sign up for it).

Lastly, Jordan, they're still there. I keep getting the Vonage one, but haven't seen the Circuit City one, yet. Mind, I've only just logged on a few minutes ago.
 
i got an ad last night that covered and prevented me from accessing the quick links:rolleyes: so i had to refresh the page just to access them, i can't get a screenshot because i can't get it again but if i get it again i'll have my MW snap program ready so i can get a screenshot

ps sorry i didn't think it was worth starting a new thread:guilty:
 
OK, thanks for letting me know, guys...I made a few more changes to the ads allowed here but it may take an hour or so before they take effect.
 
i'm still getting them on the GTP home page, i refreshed the page but it kept coming up every time, so i gave up trying to read what was there
 
Thanks Jordan. I didn't get any bad ads yesterday during my few hours online, and haven't seen one since I logged in a few minutes ago, which is usualyy when they would show.
 
As you make more posts, those ads will disappear.

I see what you mean about that, although the problem there is a lot different than the one originally cited in this thread. The only way for me to fix that is to move the location of the ads, so I placed them above that navigation bar so they should not interfere with the slide-out controls.

Personally, I'd love a free Microsoft Xbox 360, although I'd rather wait a few more years for the price to go down. Anyway, I wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to obtain one for free. I'm assuming that you'll have to pay shipping and handling fees but it would still be quite a bargain.

The turkey is the problem here. I'm virtually useless at hitting anything. That's probably why I'm not good at tennis or cricket either. However, give world-class cricket player Brian Lara a go and he should do it in less than a few minutes at most.

"Brian Lara, if you're out there, I'd like a free console or two!"
