Odd forum appearance and long loading times.

Whenever I load GTP, the screen is showing up like this.




This started some time last night, and hasn't stopped today. If it's any help, I'm running Mac OSX Leopard (10.5.8), and Safari version 5.0.2.

Happens sometimes. Just press Ctrl F5.

This can happen if, for some reason, your computer can't load the CSS or image files off GTPlanet's content delivery network servers. As suggested, refreshing the page should fix the issue - let me know if it becomes a regular occurrence.

This is just strange, the forum and home page of gtplanet.net are loading really slow and like the screenshot, and without avatars in forum posts. I've tried clearing my browser cache and cookies in Safari, and tried using Firefox and Opera, but no dice.

The weird part, is that it immediately started working as normal when I used a proxy server. Also, GTP seems to be the only site I'm having trouble with, other sites and forums I visit are loading just fine.

That's because the proxy server you're using isn't having trouble connecting to the content delivery network. Open Terminal on your Mac and type traceroute www.gtplanet.net, then traceroute www.gtpla.net, and paste the results here inside of [code] tags so I can take a closer look.

@Noob616 - I'm a Mac as well. Just out of curiousity, have you tried different browsers? Firefox is almost identical to Safari, but I've found that Google Chrome also works really well and I prefer it immensely. I'm running Snow Leopard and I've never had that problem with GTP at home while using Google Chrome, but I have seen it with Safari. (I do have to admit that I do 99% of my GTP activity from my work computer [Windows XP + Explorer] )

Well with this specific problem I tried Opera and Firefox, neither worked. For the most part I use Safari, but I\'ll certainly check out Google Chrome, although I don\'t think that would solve the problem.


Just to throw another curveball in there, I can connect to GTP using the iPod touch app, on the same wifi connection.

Your traceroute to www.gtpla.net looks fine (that's the CDN servers), though I see you edited after you were first unable to resolve the name at all, which indicates you're having trouble resolving the DNS information. Do you have any other computers on your local home network there you can try to load the site from? When you're having this issue on your Mac, try loading the site on one of those other computers, or try loading the "full version" of the site in Mobile Safari on your iPod Touch (not the app).

Using Safari on my iPod touch, I can't access the site. I just tried using the family PC, and my brother's netbook, and neither of those worked either.

From the other devices, I can sometimes get through (after a 30-40 second loading time) with results like the screenshot in my first post, but most times it simply doesn't connect. My home internet connection is pretty standard, Modem and wireless router.

All of my devices, Mac, both PC's, and iPod with Safari browser, can sometimes get through and "look funny", and most times just don't load, and stay at a white screen. The only exception is the GTPlanet iPod app, or proxy servers.
