I went over to my friends house yesterday to play some GT5. Any how upon playing I noticed he didn't have the game installed, no biggie, but as i started half of his thumbnails were gone, again , no biggie. We spent the next 2 hours trying to beet the NUR seasonal * great race * and we almost gave up until we bought the BMW Mclaren F1. We beet it and upon exiting the screen stayed in the loading bar.. * granturismo logo* he quit the game as it did not freeze but my question is , does not installing the game lead to a glitchy GT5 , also his DEMO thing did not work as it was not an option, just a dark DEMO on the tab?
Does the seasonal freeze?
PS he has a 160 gig
I have a 60gig with none of these symptoms and I installed my game?

Sometimes installing it can help but not always. I've found the game to run faster uninstalled.

I think its all the patches over time that's causing the glitches and freezing. A game should not be patched so much. Having the game installed helps with loading times as well as saving the life of your blu ray lens in your ps3.

We've been over this before. The effect of the patches has nothing to do with it let alone having the game installed and killing your blu ray drive. It's not true.

LOL my BRD died last year and i had it installed so we can debunk that .

But if your doing more reading from the blu ray lens (as suppose to reading from the hard drive), wouldn't that affect the life span? I've already been though one lens, before GT came out. Since GT came out, I haven't had a problem with it. Could it be that most is pre-installed putting less stress on the lens? I don't know.

In regards to the patching, I've (as well as others) notices flaws created by patches. The last update/patch fix bugs that we created during the update before. The one that I remember off the top of my head is the pit auto-pilot during pit. This wasn't a problem until the added the suspend option. Another one is the sound, they fixed sounds from some cars and ruined others (electric cars had exhaust sounds), then they re-patched to fix the patch. There are going to be bugs when patching. When you make a patch, you address ONE issue without taking side effects into consideration. You just want to get it out and keep people "temporarily" happy until the next one. This is for all gaming software.

PS, one person is not proof.

Use of the Blue ray does not decrease its life span, Sony used faulty ones for the original PS, hell if it was "use" the engine that makes it move would have died . what i do know if if you don't use a disk drive often they stop working.

Point taken. That's what happens when I don't do my research :dunce: You guys were right, I read that it was faulty lasers and not of over use. I've had an aftermarket one in mine for a year and a half about, and its worked fine as compared to the stock on that lasted 8 months in my slim.

The exact same thing happened to me, except almost exclusively with Chevy and Daihatsu , and installing it didn't seem to work.

The freezing or the thumbnails never appearing?
P.S. if you are going to install GT5
DELETE ALL OF YOUR UPDATES FIRST. *required game does not behave well post patch insalation*
then when installing SIGN OUT, of PSN. * not required but recommended*
