Massa will be testing for Ferrari this week, so it’s inspired me to make this thread. For most teams, testing won’t start for another month, but we might-as-well get the ball rolling.

Talk about testing, post testing pictures, times, etc. See if we can gather as much info about how the teams are progressing with their V8 engines, new cars etc.

So, as I was saying before, Massa is testing Ferrari’s V8 at Vallelunga on the 26th, 27th, and 28th.

Vallelunga (26–10–05)
1. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) – 1:14.366 (46 Laps)

I found soem info on the Ferrari F1 engine:

Ferrari has revealed that they may run an 8 cylinder V10 engine instead of a full V8 for 2006. A regulation designed for lesser funded teams, Ferrari may take advantage of this loophole for their new car which will debut as early as January. Ferrari wants to bring the F2006 to the track as early as possible to turn things around for the team and January would be an excellent time to start. Here is what Ross Brawn had to say about the new car and the new engine:

"We plan to bring the new car in during January, so it will be earlier than previous cars. The new engine has been running in a hybrid car and is being updated and revised as we go along. It will continue to run for the next four or five months and that has the longest lead time of all the parts.

We will start running the new car from the middle of January and until then we will continue tyre testing and will be running two cars, one with an experimental engine, a V10 with eight cylinders, and one the proper V8."

Barcelona: Day 2

Klien on top. I’ve read that he was using a restricted V10 engine, but I would have thought on Squadra Torro Rosso (V. Luizzi) would be using it…

Pizzonia won't be able to testing in Williams for a few weeks I guess, he was robbed yesterday in São Paulo. They took his wallet, which had his F1 Driving License inside. lol

:dunce: Why keep it in your wallet?! To woo the ladies with?

"Hello ladies check out what I have *Flashes F1 license* :sly:"

I call BS on this. Once you obtain a super license, you have it, and are registered with the FIA as having it; losing the material thing, if there even is one, doesn't matter.

Martin Brundle, "So, David, how do you think you'll fair in the race today?"

David Coulthard, "Well, I can't find my Super License, so I won't be able to take part in the race today. I must have left it on the bureau in the hotel. The FIA police told me I'm supposed to carry it with me at all times."

This "story" is ludicrous.

Most definately. But Pizzona is still a tool.

- Não posso sair do Brasil, pois sem ela não tem como eu voltar a pilotar - disse o piloto.

"I can't leave Brazil, because without it (the license) I can't go back to drive - said the driver."

It's not BS, he said it himself. And this was taken from a respectable website. But I guess he can get another one if needed...

It is BS that Pizzonia apparently can't drive for Williams because his Super License was stolen. Once you obtain a Super License, that's it. It's not like an actual road license that you have to have on you to drive a road car. Once you obtain a Super License from the FIA, that's it, you're registered with them as having a Super License - you don't need a physical license to drive a Formula One car as long as you have already obtained a Super License from the FIA.

ya know, it doesnt look half bad.

i was skeptic of the original picture that was out but on the actual car, it looks pretty decent.

so, we've now had a good chunk of testing, typically what can you make out of what's gone down so far? do the times and performances at this point in winter testing usually hold any water? this is my first winter testing season so i'm curious if i should take anything from testing so far.

no, it's too early to really draw anything from the times. In fact, in the F1 circus, nobody knows what cards the teams are holding until the first race.

"In a press release today, The FIA explained that Ferrari, who was going to be disqualified from todays Australian Grand Prix for 'having a V8 engine that is actually a V10 engine', will instead 'be starting behind the former Minardis for the first race of the season.' When asked to comment, Ferrari lead driver Micheal Shumacher was reported as saying 'Well, thats going to add about .031 seconds to our first lap time' and later was quoted as saying 'I hope I don't run into that Pizzonia guy out on the track. He's a total tool'. More info as it comes to be."

DUDE!!!! Midland looks AWESOME! They went back the gold of the old jordans. Homage my butt.

Its only just started my friend, we still got 2 months to get through.

One thing you have got to remember is that alot of these tests so far are on restricted V10's therefore we can't really tell which car is top of the field, also aeros have only just started to be touched on, its still in the blue about which team will be fastest.

I have a sneaky little feeling though that Toyota will be extremely competitive during the winter testing and the '06 season.

And yeah the MF1 don't look half bad at all.

ah, i figured as much with the restricted v10's and beginning stages of aero development.

i'm callin' it right now; red bull is gonna' make at least 6 podiums this year and are gonna' be third in the constructors.

mark my words!

Nah its too tough to choose this years because of so many factors,

  • Tyre changes are back therefore Ferrari should be smiling.
  • McMerc and Renault will be looking to do the same as 05.
  • Many teams have been brought by big money manufactures like Honda and BMW, you can chuck them into the mix.
  • Tyres are split 5 to 5 on teams.
  • V8's, Honda and Toyota have reknown efficencey for them, as well as Cosworth.
  • And you still have the 3 fastest drivers in the world, Micheal Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.

This is gonna be one hell of a season.

I like how the Midland's rear wing looks. Reminds me a lot of the Nissan R92CP. However, the paintjob kinda reminds me of Minardi. Don't like how they painted it.

Stop talking.

(:p)

Renault is using restricted V10s (not the FIAs restriction, there own to simulate proper V8 power levels). Red Bull is using restricted Cosworth V10s (or at least they were at the previous test, they might be using Ferrari’s V8 now…). Generally, everyone else is on V8 power.

ouch I feel bad. Rosberg was faster then Button... Wow... You'd think when you've been driving for as long as he has in an f1 car you wouldnt let such a rookie be faster then you... I dont care about his blood line...

I'm looking forward to the brazilian getting into the Honda... jan 01 can come fast enough.

Perhaps this time he will be allowed to win....

 Well since there is supposibly no number 1 driver in that team the only person that would nto allow him to win in the team would be Jenson.

I'll put 50 quid on Rubens beating Jenson please.
:)

THE ED3
I have no idea how much a quid is but I'm with you on that...
It's a pound.

Well I expect Button to give him a run for his money but Rubens has had much more experience of a front running car and ultimatly winning a race. Button may have had a series of 2nd's but he is no race winner and untill he does win I believe he wont be able to beat Ruben's through a season.

A race win could do him wonders though and only then could we see his full potentenial. And he is only 25 or 26, he still has some years ahead of him to get that elusive win to set him off.

Still, for 06 my money is on Rubens.

As for the championship, god knows!

Definately. Rubens needs a good few seasons after having to play second fiddle to Schumacher:banghead: god i hate that german.
