Figured I'd post this since people without the update don't have access to the news section of GT5P..

Word for word:

Regarding the effect of network access concentrations to downloads

Due to the high concentration of network access for the August 1st Gran Turismo 5 Prologue update, you may experience very slow download speeds for the update and Gran Turismo TV programs.

We are currently working to improve the network condition. If downloads are taking too long, please try again at a later time.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

So basically, like everyone has said, keep trying and eventually you'll get it.

We were promised faster download speeds after installing the update, so naturally, dowloading the update itself is not included in that.

Well the comment is talking about the the large amounts of traffic trying to get the update.
So, technically, you have to have the update first before you can comment about the new download speeds post 08/01/08 update. :)

Damn. interceptor beat me to it. Haha

At least they actually came out and told what is happening unlike sony with the 2.40 update

I'd Like to know what happened to the faster download speeds we were promised for the new update.
I'm not sure which way you meant it so I will answer both.

If you meant, this update should download faster:
The update is what will fix the download speeds, so I am guessing that means that this update is supposed be the last one to have download issues.

If you mean the GTTV videos are downloading slow after the update is installed:
Best guess, downloads are improved under normal conditions, which this is not.

Or they flubbed it up.

sure I knew that, but what about the DL speed of the GT-TV content, it's very, very slow. I've had 2 videos on DL now for about 8 hours.

thats because alot of others are doing the same around the world. the update was about 220mb i think and that took ages and these videos are much larger than that so you could imagine the traffic.
ime going to give it a couple of days and then start to download the vids.

I think they just got swamped harder than they thought they would, I think they didn't expect as many DL as they got at once, system crash, work like crazy to get it up again. Not saying that's true, just that it's a possibility.

I would just like to voice my complaint!

PD,

You and your game are garbage. Your network is rubbish. Your update is rubbish. How could you not anticipate this? This happened with the Spec II update and yet you still do not learn? If it weren't for all the great times I have had with fellow GTP members here, I would have trashed your crap game months ago. If this is what real service is to you, then you guys deserve to be out of business. You are just like the rest of the gaming firms out there. Your number one concern is money, and second to ignore your customers requests. What a joke, your company is and has become.

Thank you for the unbelievable poor service, I would expect nothing less from a gaming company. Thank you for fufilling my beliefs on gaming firms.

Chad C Brower

I believe I am on my 50th or some attempt to update the game. Thank you. 51st now while typing this. :)

Man Ive been close to breaking the farking controller more than once today.
This is really frustating/dissapointing/insulting..

I mean..come on!!! Does no one at Polyphony knows how the internet works?!! This is beyond silly. Please someone send them a link to teach them the wonders of a thing called "torrent".

Ive tried 50+ times to get the friggin update, no joke...

OK, I got the update with minimal problem, restarted maybe six times, and then I saw the News section had an item about the Advanced Download features requiring another firmware update before they would work.

Could that be the problem?

Also, I noticed that if you use the background download feature for GT-TV it doesn't download them one at a time, but rather does then all at once. So, if you have two going at once it can take you longer to get the first one than if you just downloaded them one at a time.

So, even post update the faster downloads are not yet up and running and the background downloads can actually make one video seem to take forever.

But an individual video download did seem to move faster than before.

I do like the background download system though. Once I got all my Top Gear episodes in I was able to download everything else while watching Top Gear or playing the game.

Wow. Overreact much? I did my update on Saturday afternoon (August 2) and it went off quickly, without the slightest hitch, the first time.

Methinks that some of you folks need to go outside and play with your 3-dimensional friends a little more.

Have to agree a completely OTT post. If he hates Prologue that much how come he made 50 attempts to get the update!!

Personally I had no problems and achieved the update on my 1st attempt. The simple reason is I waited a few hrs before attempting to download the update. It doesn't matter how much PD prepare their servers for the update you will always find servers crash when they experience an exceptionally high volume of traffic.

Which means they won't have to buy better network equipment and let us pay for the bandwith? But yes hopefully it will improve the download speeds of future updates.

You guys are little babies. Stop complaining. Torrent downloading will be 1000x better for all of us. And it will barely use up your bandwidth usage for the short while its going. Dont be scarred of it, accept it and stop whining.

OH what a surpise , PD noticed that the PentiumII dosn't fit to the lot of downloads, and this after the releasedate .
What a profession, stupid.
Think bevor act.

I'm looking forward to the release of GT5 , grant challenge for PD to fullfill all customers satisfaction.
