[Poverty]

Sportauto is a well-known source and is well-resepected around the world. Sportauto is the best indicator of just how fast and track capable most these cars are, as the test are done fairly, which the same driver each and everytime. If the driver thinks the car could have gone faster for whatever reason, they will state so.


They also do a official sportauto nurburgring laptimes test, of which we also have a thread of at gtplanet, mixed together with non sportauto laptimes which can be found by clicking here


Factory times however, wont be included in this thread.

Your absolutely right dont know how I managed to do that. The jaguar time is poor though, It must have had some technical trouble or got tested in some serious rain. However I dont think we will ever find out, as I will only know about the details of the more recent tests

I thought the title of the thread would generate some interest in this topic but it doesnt seem to have worked. Finally we have solid proof that the Z06 is astoundingly fast and not even so much as a "I told you so".

My solid proof came when I saw it on TopGear, I accepted that it was astoundingly fast before then but since I'm over here and the Z06 was over there the fact it's being called fast compared to cars we don't compare them to generally just doesn't click until you get a review done on your home soil against cars you can relate to. I bet theres a good number of replies in here by tommorow mid day since the people in the US are probably at work right now, remember they're on different time zones than us.

I think this is, in fact, a bit old. I saw something about the Z06's lap times at Hockenheim on Corvette Forums a few months ago.

Nevertheless, it's a hell of a result, though some of the times are weird. For example, how the heck did a street Z06 outrun a DTM car?

I think what astounds me more than the long list of cars it did beat, is the short list of those that it didn't:

Porsche Carrera GT
Koenigsegg CCR
Pagani Zonda F

Track-tuned specials aside, that leaves a very exclusive list of some very desirable cars. The only others I can think of that might have been up there are the Enzo and Saleen S7 Turbo. There's other's I'd like to see, like the Bugatti (not likely) and the McLaren (probably close), but that still makes it a ridiculously fast US$65,000 car.

So now that we've established that the '06 Z06 is the best track car deal out there, how does it ride on the FDR Drive?

He's only doing times done by the magazine because they're all the asme driver.


And yes, some times were in the wet but the list doesn't specify, it'd be a lot to ask to search for each time individually to add more info to it, but he'll probably specify and different conditions on any times he adds to the list from now.

Mercedes SLR ------------------------------------------- 1.13,5 mins, which is as fast as a M3 CSL. Impressive time of the M3 not so impressive of the SLR.

Going by the nurb time, which is a more complex and twisty track id, say the SLR time wasnt done in perfect conditions, or had technical difficulties, as a track like hockenheim should favour it. We will find out when sportauto get theyre hands on the SLR sport though, with the extra 50 ponies.
