So, I haven't gotten one piece of spam in the past year or so (and the only reason I ever got it before was because I was using a Hotmail address). But today, I got two spammies... one was an HTML page in Japanese, which I couldn't read, and the other was this:

Stupid bugger. Oh well, I finally get an excuse to use Mail's hyper cool Bayesion (sp?) filtering! Yay!

I'm contemplating having a little fun with 'im and seeing how long I can draw a conversation before I thoroughly piss the scammer off.

Jeebus, they sure want a lot of info – I can understand why, but that's not going to encourage people to report stuff.

That's the Gubament for ya: ;)

At least you'll have something to stick in your FBI file now. :p Uh, besides that "mooning" incident with the President. :D

Na - that's someone else. Sage was the guy whose dog bit the President.

/larson reference.

Hotmail has been really good for me. I used to get loads of spam but now with only the medium filter turned on, I only get about one or two spam mails a week.

I've had a bit of fun at these guys expense. It's quite fun to see how much abuse they can take. I've had one ask that Allah rid the world of people like me. And here I didn't even know he was muslim. I was just being rude on the count of him spamming me. I will note that after the our last conversation, ending with his invitation to London and me inviting him to contact my friend richardhead@hotmail.com in England, I've not had another nigeria scam letter.

Welcome to the new world of Spam, Sage. You're doomed like the rest of us.

Till later,

AO

I get those all the time. Usually an African prince of some kind trying to secure a "transfer of funds" for some poorly explained reason.

Aren't there any laws that forbid that(spam i mean). It's unbelivable how much **** i get in my mail.90% of it spam.

Sage, that's positively professional. Have a look at what I received today:

Heh.

I love the spam that sells you something, but only wants checks made out to "Cash". Most of the spam is so poorly written nowadays (obviously coming from non-English "typing" countries) that it's not even funny anymore. I guess it's also to trip up the spam-blocking and censorship algorthims in the software.

I just gave up on the Hotmail account completely. I got 5-6 emails a day that were exactly the same most of the time.

Well, where's my friggin Degree?

I've been getting the same (similar) e-mail from random people. The headers have been edited, so I know it's not really the person sending it. Therefore, blocking them does nothing.

I have deduced that it's orginating in Korea and it's all from similar IP's. So how do I managed to block an IP address, when I'm using Microsoft Outlook?

FOr instance, here's this afternoon's (just like clockwork):

Received: from [211.243.15.225] (helo=205.214.76.4)

SO is there a way to block this, or has Ol' Bill really missed the boat?

Thanks

AO

Have you tried using "contains specific words in the message header" as a rule criteria, and adding the IP address to the search terms?

It's "pete", not "Pete". "pete" is someone whose sake could be at risk if you do bad things. And since you do a lot of bad things, Boomie, you're really bad for pete's sake. Really bad.
