Yipee! That dreadful toshiba has been repaired, but now the usb drives aren't working . I can't understand it, it says they're working fine, but they just don't recognise anything i plug into them. Any ideas before i run the recovery disk?
There are no files on it whatsoever, and i can't figure out why on earth it won't accept anything. Anyone?
If you're running XP you might have to go into the Device Manager (properties on My Computer > Hardware) and if there's a (!) icon you need to install the drivers for the USB root hub. Sometimes XP 'forgets' to install the device drivers because it didn't pick up the USB root hub. After you do that restart the computer and they should be working fine.
There's a huge chance that they somehow borked the usb controller during the repair. It took 2 motherboard replacements on my laptop before the USB ports actually worked. The first new mobo's usb controller died just a few months after the repair...
I think you're right. I just recovered windows, and the problem remains.
Looks like it's going in for repair once more. I expected it to last a bit longer than 3 days before it got returned again, but hey, what else can i do?
