Do you guys think that an oil change could be considered an upgrade because it most cases it gives your 0/0 car more horsepower right off the showroom floor?

I don't consider it an upgrade and I do it to every street car that I tune but I realized I'm reluctant to do it to exotic cars such as the Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670-4 SV because it gives it more power.

What do you GTPlanet users think?

I think it is an "upgrade". It changes the car from it's original specs which kind of makes it pointless to keep a car for it's real life performance.

So even if the car is due for an oil change after 500 miles you would still consider the oil change as an upgrade?

When the stock hp drops below the official hp, I guess, even though it would surpass the official.

I suppose you could consider it an upgrade in oil quality. When it comes time to change the oil due to mileage you can’t use the original stuff so if you really wanted to keep the same power as new maybe a switch to a semi racing filter (or some other minor upgrade) would take it back to showroom power?

I suppose you could do that but it sounds a bit rigged. This makes me wish PD would of put a regular oil in the game along with a racing oil to suit different cars because if you read about the oil it says something along the lines of "high performance racing oil" if I'm not mistaken.

The oil is "racing fuel" so I would imagine that's why it improves performance.

It would be an option… I would love to see a “reset to original” option and 2 or 3 presets for tunes but I don’t see it happening :)

I suppose you could also change the oil then just take it back with the limiter.

yea the oil things been with us since gt3 =D but in rl a cars hp differs model per model, no one car is 100% alike, this applies most to cars that have custom made engines " lambos/gtr's * =P

My bad, I didn't mean to put fuel. But yes, it's an upgrade.

You did mean to put fuel... Lol

It depends on how you define "upgrade". It's a consumable part, so it's like calling it an upgrade if you run 91 octane gas instead of 85. I wouldn't consider that an upgrade to a vehicle.

As a note, I ran 0W-20 oil in my race bike, and it did give a performance boost over the "stock" or normal viscosity oil.

Sort of not an upgrade in the game because if you dont do an oil change the power will go up anyways from break in. Then youll have to do it and the power goes up more. As far as the game goes no....but like other said a 276 hp stock rx-7 is not that anymore.

Good question!

I think it's just pouring fluid into the engine that can up the general performance.

I agree with Racer39658.. its a consumable part, that diminishes over time; like fuel. Not an upgrade, as you are not replacing any mechanical parts.

Not an Upgrade.

All upgrades can be applied only once. Oil change can be done multiple times.

Hi, Keep changing the oil. If you don't you will not be able to reach and maintain maximum HP. I don't think of it as a "tune / upgrade", more like maintenance that you'd do with any car... Have fun.

Well that's ur opinion. :) even if it's wrong. Lol

Which part is wrong? Which upgrades can be applied more than once (without removing and applying again)?
