Oil changes in the pits would be nice

I figured i would start this thread since many people have been talkin about it in between long Nascar runs. The problems start happening when someone has to leave the rm to get oil only to have the room fill up thus locking them out.
Pd has been very proactive keeping us informed of changes and listening to our constructive criticism. Maybe they can streamline the oil, motor and chassis rebuild down the road. Thoughts?

I have been in rooms for three hours straight (not constantly racing) and I have never felt the need to get an oil change done, a chassis restore or an engine rebuild. So I think this is a bit of a daft idea frankly.

I think this a bit daft as well... do they change the oil, restore the chassis in real races? I don't think so, so why in a game like this?

In terms of getting back the extra power (that you loose owing to the poor condition of the oil by the end of an endurance race) , it isn't that bad an idea.

However, as mentioned in the above posts it doesn't happen in any kind of real life racing so why should it happen on GT5...??

Maybe not chassis work but at Le Mans 24hr it is not unusual for teams to swap engines and trannies and other major parts during the race. I doubt it would be worthwhile to add that ability to the game for one or two races, though.

Would be nice to have an oil change option in the tune settings between races in a Championship series or allow the player at least visit GT Auto.

How about also being able to get out of the car, have a cup of tea, some biscuits and maybe even watch some TV during the pit stop as well?? And while we're at it, why not a 10 lap Indy race where a 20-min suspension rebuild in the middle is compulsory?

Lol the engines stay running during a pit. how can you drain the oil and top it up correctly, let alone bleed the oil system on dry race systems...

unrealistic

The oil change needs something. Would be nice to be able to change it in the lobby between races. I do not think it should be allowed in the pits unless you want to have a 15 minute pit stop. Somehow I think that lost horsepower would not offset the time it takes to drain and refill the oil not to mention the poor guy having to deal with that hot oil in a rush.

Would be nice if on the tuning screen or garage screen you could just hit the triagle and on the menu would be an oil change option. No graphic, no delay, just a confirmation and deduct the required credits from your account.

And while they are at it...put in an option to have someone clean your windscreen and a place where you can pull up to a drive thru window and have someone ask "Would you like fries with that?". Hehehe Jk's :)

Wait, rooms? As in online rooms and lobbies? I thought any online racing done didn't affect the car in GT Life?

Since the last update I believe, cars raced in online have now been accumulating miles, and wear and tear. I'm actually happy about this, because now my new cars get broken in easier, and I actually benefit from the hp gain for breaking in a new car.

I can give you several examples of where the engine goes off, 24h of Le Mans for one. The engine must be off when refuelling.

just doesn't seem practical, hot burning oil being taken out of a motor mid ace , screwing the plug back, opening the hood and pouring fresh oil into the engine....

who's the guy that get's burned for this one? last to bolt the tire maybe lol

In the Endurance races, oil changes would be nice but would that make that much difference to preformance ?

It would be better to have the option to change front & rear wings to improve downforce when it rains.... like even a PS2 game could.

I didn't mean during the race guys, strictly after so you wouldn't get locked out of a good room that's all.
I have only done a few online races due to concentrating on the offline game, but my strategy will be to have two or three of some cars, so that I can switch between them. Not ideal, but worth considering.

Yeah Steve thx, that's what I have been doing. I've only been racing Nascar online for a couple of weeks, but clean rooms are fun as hell so I ended up buying a few more cars to switch to after longer races.

Ha have you ever thrown fresh oil into a hot engine? I saw my mate do it to his pug 206 weasel, shall we say bad things will happen.

You know that everybody in the race has the same oil problem like you, so changing the oil is n00bish and useless...

hmmm, I could see changing set-ups like aero etc working in endurance races if your original set-up wasn't working for you or if the weather conditions changed...

After playing more hours online, I realized you actually need to change oil while playing online. It would be good if you could buy tires on the online lobby, too.

Wow after reading the first few threads I was surprised. By pits I believe he meant lobby. There are way more tards on this game then I first thought.

For all you real noobs or *scrubs who think that you dont need to change the oil in an online race or after a online race this is for you.
1.I for one when I get online to play GT5 I will play for at least 4-8 hours at a time.

2.I host a regular room every day since the game released at midnight the first day

3.My group or clan as some call it race NASCAR

4.Racing NASCAR you run anywhere from 50-200 laps at 2.5 miles per lap and have horse power loss.

5.Being competitive and to make the said 50-200 laps with a win and without being a *scrub you need a NASCAR that has 892hp

6.Such hp is only obtained by having your car in top shape ex;

Keeping up on the oil changes after each race for one will restore lost hp. Engine/chassis rebuilds on a more regular basis then say a boring civic or something else that isnt fun and slow will keep your car going straight and fast.

7.There are 12 different NASCAR cars in the game 50 laps at 40sec a lap leaves me with less then 7 hours of NASCAR enjoyment before I am out of cars and have no choice but to;

a.Leave and do an oil change and lose control of my room to a possible *scrub and have lag from their slow ass internet when I return from the oil changes

b.Use a car that has less then 892hp and have *scrub speed starting from lap one and by the time the 50 laps is over be down to 824hp.

*scrub; one who believes their car is much faster due to draft or lag and or inexperience with real racing simulator games. They are the best racer in their house making their way to the checkered flag by smashing every wall or car on the track with a car that has 500 more hp then the ai does. ex; NFS or another arcade-ish type game. Said scrub champion or their house will wreck you in order to advance a position to only wreck himself or others. Then the scrub will exit the game entirely resulting in everyone's racing experience ruined and not to mention all the lost credits and XP due to one less driver racing. So your racing winnings can go from a possible 400,000cr and 120,000xp to just 400cr and 100xp with our friendly scrub noob player

So yeah after saying all that I agree 100% 👍 with oil changes in the lobby. Have it in the section where you tune the car or something. Make it easier to never have to leave a good room again.

The people who say they dont need the oil change are the same ones that dont think you need to set up or tune the car so they wouldn't even know you added that for us racers

Oh yeah and if anyone wants to get owned join my room its up every night. we run more then nascar so bring your A game and dont scrub, noobs.

Ferrari F1, X1, NASCAR, Le Mans, Gt-1, WRX, EVO's you name it and its fast we run it and some that isnt so fast.................... No civics or dumb cars like that tho

I also believe that there should be some tuning in the pits during a game. By some tuning I mean aero or suspension tweaks like they do in real nascar

On the pits no. In the lobbies yes. Unless of course you want your pit stop to take 15 minutes or more.

It would be better to set loss of hp more realistic. You can see some of the fastest laps in last hours of 24hr Le Mans, so there isn't any bigger power loss in real life racing so there isn't need to change oil during race.

+1 for oil changes in the lobby..Buying tires would be nice too. Maybe you go into your favorites and hit triangle on your car and BAM! you can choose change oil.

Also cappa_mcnasty does have the best room. You better be using a wheel or be really really good with a DS3 though.

This maybe true but Im just saying that in the game in NASCAR or anything else you run. If your driving in a race more then 150 miles then you will lose power in this game online.

When the race is running IT IS using your car. All the crashes, beating, and miles you put on your car in an online race is on your car for good. When you are in an online race in qualifying time then there damage miles and beating you put on the car doesn't count toward using the car. So in practice you can smash and crash your car till its a tin can and it wont cost you a thing. But race and do that and you will need to drop 400K on restoring it 1 mill if its a high end car to fix it up
