So we all know without changing your oil you start to lose HP.

My question is, do you eventually stop losing HP? And if so, at what point does this happen?

I read through the oil degradation guide but I must have missed the info I was looking for.

This may be something of a useless answer in the context of GT6 but in the series up to GT5 HP loss continues down to a certain point and then stops there (the point is colloquially referred to as Black Oil, for the simple reason that that is rather the colour the oil has become :D).

That was my plan. And that's what I ended up doing. I just wanted to know how long it would take to stop losing horsepower. I don't know the answer as I didn't record my mileage. But it didn't take very long at all. And I picked up a Mile per hour or two on some straights at the nurb, and I never have to change my oil again! So I'm happy.

Actually it's better that you lose the torque. Allows you to have more HP for the same PP. And HP is way more important than torque in GT6. Which is why guys run dirty oil in the TT events.

In the LMP1 series i race in, we run 580hp 879trq 930kg no upgrades @ 656pp, if you add oil change and run it to minimum you still can obtain 580hp but you only produce 815trq & 652pp, not only that but your engine has old in it your engine response is compromised, acceleration is compromised, fuel mileage is compromised. This is all assuming you run with tire wear on normal, grip reduction on real & slipstream on real. having 65 less torques results in nearly 6 tenths slower. And when we have

16 drivers thats all qualify within a second of each other 6 tenths is the difference between pole & 10th

its true if you run PP limits its faster but we dont

Whoa whoa whoa.. This is news to me... Engine response times are slower with dirty oil? And your fuel mileage is compromised? Is there any evidence of these claims being true (especially the engine response time one) besides your lap times?

Yes I have.

Well ofcourse it's going to be slower if you limit everything else. I said trading in torque for horsepower. Just losing torque isn't a trade in anyway at all.. However these engine response times I don't believe for a second.

Gas mileage is arguable maybe.

These are facts from both series, simple way to test it is by going on route x with a bone stock car. Run until its out of gas see how far you go. Then give it an oil change try itagain, then drive until oil is black then go again. The difference between no oil change & oil change is 500-600 meters but multiply that by 5 which is how fast the wear is accelerated on very fast. and thats over 1.4 miles, & using dirty oil results in nearly 1.8 miles lost

there's no way to test throttle response. but over 40 people have done test runs. 31 reported at lap time difference and acceleration difference. but if your not running tire & fuel wear it makes no difference

Ok let's clear a few things up.

Trading in torque for HP is faster in GT6. Agreed?

Losing torque and not gaining any HP is slower in GT6.
Agreed?

Now the gas mileage thing is hard to test, and not a concern of mine at the moment anyway.

However this response time thing. Your saying if you take a car with the same specs. Same HP, same weight, same torque. But one with dirty oil and one with clean oil, the clean oil car will for some reason be faster?

Both of you: please use the edit button to add to existing posts. There's no reason for double and triple posting. 👍

aand I am curious about something. Is there anyone ever succeed to blink oil indicator at the gauge? What will happen if it blinks?

Curious but that too. I have c7 that got oil change at 200mi. I haven't changed it since and am at 11,500mi now. It's down about 130hp now. 789hp new was 920hp. It also cruises at 283mph now instead of 296mph new

Haven't driven one that far to get the oil lamp to illuminate in GT6, but the only noticeable effect is the performance is improved once the oil is changed. Cars purchased from the used lot in GT5 would often come with the light lit and in need of an oil change. The used car refurbishment was a unique feature in GT5.
