While today's modern computer-controlled squeaky clean cars may approach the performance numbers put up 35 years ago, they will never duplicate the rush generated by 400-plus cubic inches fighting for traction through period bias-ply tires. Pity todays car enthusiast who think variable valve timing is the hot set-up.

yeah, it has its charm. but I think I pitty you more dude. OK, they will NEVER duplicate the rush of those things. And I really know it... its awesome when you fight for control of the rear end of a mustang 429 at WOT. been there done that ( a member of the mustang club mexico allowed me to :D), but I think there is NOTHING like starting your EFIed Hemi cuda... and, it starts right away!!! OMG! there is nothing like raw hp with 20-mpg fuel consumption. yeah, I understand your view man. there is nothing like past. but then again, I believe that there is nothing like a blend of past and oh-so-now. engineering and technology have made things better, ALWAYS. yeah, they are 4 cylinder-front wheel driven, 170 hp high tech econoboxes. try aplying those hi tech tricks to your raw-power beast. imagine a HEMI V8 with the felxibility of variable valve timing. I mean... VTEC IS the hot setup now. maybe for you it is in the wrong car. but it indeed is hot. just like its hot updating the right car for you with all the hot gizmos of today.
