It's everything you need if you have a screen.

But, and this is a big but, you have to build it yourself. Hence the name "DIY".

Shame really, i'm in the proccess of looking for a base pc too, but to get anything decent, you're looking at twice as much as that. Take a look here: http://www.savastore.com/ariespc/

Base units start from £175, although that's pretty basic spec really. 32mb graphics ... omg ...

lol, im will to spend up to 100 quid extra on a good gfx card so its no problem really to me..

So it is a base PC but i need to build it? sweet.

The specs don't look too terrible, and it seems fine if you are just using it for basic stuff. But if you are going to run BF2 on it, you might want to look for something better.

Also remember that the graphics card socket is AGP and is therfore not compatible with the latest cards. I think AGP will be obselite by mid 2006 so it might be a good idea to get a mobo with a PCIe x16 slot

all i want
is a PC that can run the following.

GTR and mods. Which it can, i checked the specs:p
F1 Challenge and mods.
Grand Prix 4.
Possibly Rfactor and Xpand Rally.
Cross racing championship maybe.
World racing.
Mercedes Benz Truck Racing.
Richard Burns Rally.

As you see, mostly racing games, should easily be within the specs as long as i get a good graphics card. Probably will be the ATi Radeon 9600 256mb. Which is AGP8x to match the motherboard.

ok, does the motherboard in the system ave a PCI slot?

PCI, but not PCIe, so basically the best graphics card you'll ever be able to get will be a 6800 Ultra.

I do have another question, whats the difference between PCI express and AGP 8x.

E.g, would a 256mb GeForce 6600 PCI-Express16 VGA card be a good choice?

PCI-E is the newest graphics card -> mobo connection slot. It's faster than AGP and for some crazy reason you can get a better card for cheaper if you buy PCI-E over AGP. Oh well. Basically if games are your bag then you really should be getting PCI-E so that your PC is more future proof. AGP will be dead in a year and you'll be left having to buy a new mobo.

Taking a look at the specs of this PC and things don't look that great. For the price you shouldn't complain, but you're talking about playing games which is all fairly intensive.
You should be thinking 'future proof' on all items really:

The processor should be 64bit compliant (it isn't, it's an Athlon XP), the mobo should be PCI-E (it isn't) and have an up to date socket (it's socket A which is getting old, socket 939 would be better), the HDD should connect via SATA (? dunno about that one) and the RAM should be a form of DDR/DDR2 (DDR yay).

You get what you pay for in the computing world, a £200 PC will not really perform very well. You might find games are ok, but the PC won't last very long at all and then you'll be forking out another few hundred in 6-9 months on more upgrades to make it better. You may as well spend more now and get a better machine. Fr'instance i spent £700 on a PC 2 years ago, and am spending £500 in the next 3 months to get it up to date (64bit 939, SLi, SATA etc). Can't believe what i'd be spending now if i'd only spent £200 2 years back.

No, because you won't have a PCI-Express slot.

I have found another PC, only just in my price range, only im not sure if the mobo has PCI-E.

I had to screen cap it so here it is.

This one isnt DIY no, just a choose your own parts one:p Total price comes to £475 so i might ditch the steering wheel and bring it down to £445 instead and then upgrade the memory at a later date.

DAMIT! i now also found out that this webstie doesnt take my type of Debit card :(.

Better start looking for somewhere that does :(

Yeah but they dont accept the Debit card i have, Visa Electron, they only take standard Visa or the other Visa not my one :(.

Yeah, its still about 2 weeks till i get paid so i have time to look around a bit. Would you be able to help search on the internet? With a budget of between 300 and 400 preferred.

Thanks!
