At 16, you'll likely not get too much further than the city lock-up.
Plus, we also have a military pen, and a state pen in this county.

People keep saying, "if the military leaves, Leavenworth will become a ghost town." That's not entirely true. We have two non-military penitentiaries, One county jail, and the new city "justice center".
Plus, Kansas City, MO is only 15 minutes away.
And while I don't understand why it's a tourist attraction, we have a Cabela's in KC, KS. Next door to it is the "Wolf lodge" with an indoor water park. Then there's the new NASCAR track over there also.
There will just be less people with really short hair running around.
 
Do you think alot of crackheads hookers and pimps would be hanging around by a prison? if you ask me that would be a nice safe neighborhood. Great wolf lodge is pretty cool, its neat being able to go down waterslides and stuff when its raining outside.

Congrats! I think it would be really cool to be able to specify your house. Have you got CAT5 cabling?

No CAT5, but the guys have set up the router and will have three or four computers on the network when it's all finished.

I do have the PS2 set up with the big TV. I need the wires to hook up a VCR, and my surround sound. Hopefully, I'll only have to move the Big TV once more to hook stuff up.
The fridge comes on Friday, and I'll be spending the next couple of days doing some box emptying.

I hate moving house especially with no fridge because milk just doesn't taste like it should.
 
Congratulations Gil. I am currently living in an apartment waiting for my new house to be completed, which should be at the end of October. It was cool to go and pick out every little detail like floors and counter tops and miscelaneous stuff. I will not have to drill a hole for any type of wire, ever. All built in. It's gonna be sweet... as you know.

Second house, first new one.
My fridge is finally in, and my cable and phone will be in mid week next week.
Can't wait, this using the computer at work, is for the birds.

Got the PS2 hooked up, and ready to go. All I need now is time to play it. :lol:
 
Congrats GIL. The idea of living near of near a fed pen is freaky. I wonder if i walked down the street in a orange jumpsuit, how many people would call 911 lol. Anyway congrats.

Because I am near a state, federal, county and military penitentiary I feel quite safe.
You never saw so many cops in your life as you do around here.
Plus, the cons really just want to get shed of Leavenworth County as soon as possible if they escape.
In the old house, we very rarely locked the doors.:eek:
 
I've been out of sorts for a bit. Still on a "borrowed" computer.
Went out today with the wife to look for furniture for the living room.
Found a little place in KCK that had some Leather couches that my wife and I could agree on.
This is truly huge, as my wife hates leather furniture. But in texture it is somewhere between leather and suede. It looks like that new "microfiber" stuff. It is truly comfy, and will be located in controller range of the PS2.
It will also be awesome for my son's "mafia movie nites".
As and aside:
I'm still trying to figure out how a clarinet/guitar playing near mute, who happens to be well equipped to carry heavy things, (He's a good bit larger than I am) not only gets adopted by the drama club (the mafia), they've made him their "king".:lol:
He is their "godfather". I just don't get it...

Anyway, the house is starting to come together.
Next, my truck...
