By hitting the arcades recently, I was at San Jacinto Mall, way past Baytown, TX, USA. At first, I tried to play this game, and had to learn the ropes. But when I did have a chance to play this Konami game, how did I like the game? Read my review after one play session.

OTHER INFO: Perhaps this game was designed with rhythm in mind, like their other arcade smash hit, the Dance Dance Revolution series. Fighting Mania delves into the classic 1984 Anime series, "Fist of the North Star." The arcade game features 6 pads (3 on each side) which you must punch at the right moment to land successful attacks. When the pad comes your way, you must look for the pad that comes your way, then strike it at the right time for the best damage to your opponent. After I did some practice, I tested my skill against the Easy-rated enemy. As it turned out, I was watching for the pads, then struck just enough to land a hit on the enemy. When I had the SPECIAL ATTACK! All six pads were coming my way, and I was flailing away, striking the pads to eventually beat the enemy. WARNING: If you are going to play this game, don't strike the pads too hard to the point where you injure your hands. Be relaxed in the game play.

PROS: pretty fun; a fighting game with a sweet feel to it. It seems like you're actually IN the game instead of just pushing buttons and tilting a joystick; nicely-animated action and intense fist-fighting

CONS: I don't know how much it would be a con, but maybe it pays to be tall enough to play and be able to hit all six pads; can be quite a workout!

FINAL VERDICT: If you see this game in an arcade store or someplace, put your dukes up, wait for the pad to fully come your way, strike the pad when the light is on, strike those pads and have fun with this game. (Final Verdict: 8.75/10.00)
