I think GT4 is so cool in the fact that it has most modern & classic cars that bear the same name.. I think its fun to compare both as far as styling, performance & general impressions..... I gone through the steps to bring you guys some really good match-ups so please tell me your opinions & post some of your own! Enjoy....

First I have The Ford Model T, the first ford ever made.. & the 05 Ford GT the most recent

here they are both at top speed, The T at 52 MPH & the GT at 280 MPH

the Model T has surprisingly good handling ( maybe cause it only goes 52 Mph) & is fun to toss around & get loose, the Gt on the other hand is good as long as you're not pushing too hard, as it understeers pretty bad at the limit, but in terms of speed, the T cant hold a candle to the GT ( or any other '05 car for that matter)

I know some people might be saying "the '05 GT should be tested against the original GT 40" but I just had to compare these two cause they represent the evolution of a whole company, not just a model.. Maybe some can compare the dailimer with the SLR?.. hmmm

Next up is the oldschool Honda S500 VS the new S2000

Here again, both cars at top speed The S500 pushing 180 & the S2000 flying at 220

Icant really decide which one I like better In terms of handling, I love the calassic mechanical finess of the S500, but i also love how I can consistently rip off hot laps with the S2000.. Honda got it right the that car!

The design of the S500 is really squared off gererally, but a closer look reveals curved styling ques in the fenders, hood, & front grill that are definetly european inspired, As the S2000 on the other hand is nothing but curves with a look saying that Honda wanted to create their own style & they certainly did.

Honda obviously wanted to recreate the fun sporty roadster feeling of the S500 with the S2000 & not only did they recreate it , but improved upon it to a vast degree.. I love both of these cars

Next up is the 60's Camaro SS VS the '05 Camaro SS

here both at top speed, the mean green pushing 220 & the new hotness Surprising me with a 250 run..

in handling my money is on the older camaro, it has that muscle car sloppiness that equals phat drifts predictable rowdiness.. really fun to drive. As far a the new Camaro.. nothing really stood out in my mind... nothing really bad besides some understeer, but generally an uninsipiring drive in my opinion.

Both thes cars can burn it up like theres no tomorrow.. but I like the Classic better in this one.... I dont usually go for muscle cars, but I do like the SS..

woa lotta detail there nice shots too, theres quite a few old and new generations in gt4, you could also try the beetles, corvettes, camaros and skylines. i think theres more...

Thanks! I have quite a bit more that im gonna post later.

Time for round TWO!

SKYLINE TIME.. or should I say skyline timeline

as you would imagine, the top speeds increase with every new model the two in the middle are really close, & the concept is insane topping out at almost 300 (280 something)

As you can see the basic styling went from boxy to curvy, back to not so boxy then way curvy, though it has kept its basic shape. Im pretty sure most would agree when I say that the R34 is my favorite

NEXT UP, Its Corvette time '63 VS '04

I could go on for days with all the Corvettes the have on GT4, but the 63 is my favorite oldie, (though Im pissed that you cant change the rims!) & I have quite a bit of respect for the C5 because of its racing success.

Both of these cars are cool but I like the C5 better, the C2 is just too rough & heavy.

Hey thanks alot you guys!! I was starting to think no one was interested in this thread after no replies for a week or so... I really appreciate it!.. there are more on the way so stay tuned.....

I must correct you only because i am an enthusiast. The old Corvette in your comparison is a 1963 not a 1962. The 1963 marked the beginning of the C2 model. The 63 being my favorite out of the C2's because i love the split rear winshield.

My bad, thanks for the fix!

Heres a new battle for ya...

Oldschool Golf GTI VS the R32

The GTI was a contender back in the day.. When I lived in Germany its was a well known fact that in its day the GTI was the first & only hatchback that might pass you on the autobahn.. When I was there I had a early 80's GTI that I got for $350 & it was a blast to drive, handled great & topped out at 125 stock... the R32 also makes the same bold statement of being one of the few hatchbacks that you just dont want to mess with.. to honor the great run that they had with the Golf lV The motorheads at VW ran a short production of the R32's right before the new Golf came out this year.. talk about beastly.. VR6 turbo charged with 4 wheel drive & a 6 speed manual! thats beef in my book especially for a compact! These cars both have alot to be proud of..

As far as my initial impressions of these two cars.. let me first say that Im a FR guy all the way, so comparing a FF & 4WD is intersting, but what I can say is that of all the FF cars in the game the GTI feels least like a FF car.. It actually handles great! (But I dont know why Im so surprised, having owned one) & the R32 handles like, well, a 4WD.. bad understeer at the limit, even more than the GTI which is FF...

At the end of the day it comes down to this...The R32 would win in a drag race no doubt... but I think the GTI would prevail on the track. It seems like VW threw a bunch of performance parts on an economy cruiser, While the GTI seems to have more development & thought put into it.. the result is this- GTI = great handling R32 = lots of power.. I like the GTI better...

^ sweet comparison, although a stock R32 is NOT turbo (unless that is what you modified it with by which case I am sorry for the interruption)

Really? I read a few articles in different magazines that said it was turbo stock, but I could be wrong.. Thanks for the compliment.. which do you prefer? The GTI or R32?

Yes the R32 is not a turbo...its a 3.2 N/A v6...the HPA is a twinturbo though...

I own a MK4 GTI...so I totally like the R32s....but I know my roots and have a huge passion for MK1s....so Ill go with a MK1 with a 3.2 v6 swapped in...thanks :dopey:

That pic of the old VW Bug is crazy. I won a crappy brown colored one, and thought it was too F'ugly to do anything with, now I gotta go out and try to win a black one. Dayum.

Heres the beetles, as requested!

Here I have the original Beetle VS the '03 Beetle cup car both lookin good on the vegas strip..

Both of these cars are a blast to drive.. The older Beetle handles awesome & is fun to throw into low powered lazy drifts around windy roads, the only downside is that it cant really get over 100 mph.. so the value of the Original lies in pure driving enjoyment, cause its not really a car to go to the races in (unless you like the sunday cup...) & the Cup Car on the other hand surprised me with its willingness to let its ass hang out.. one of the few FF cars that I can throw into a drift! I raced it in the Beetle Cup with no mods & thats some of the best racing I've done in a while on GT4.... Its a close call at this point...

as far as the looks go, it pretty obvious that VW kept the basic shape of the Beetle in tact, But what interests me more are the little details... & the new Beetle doesnt have many, & no the flowerpower vase in the dash doesnt count.. Its like a bigger smoother puffier version of the original, with the engine & drive on the wrong end of the car no less... When I say original, I mean it! All Nazi stigma aside, this was the first car of its kind.. ever! & the styling is totally classic, the lines are consistent& fluid, split window & all... This is a beautiful car.. a work of art in my opinion. not to mention the longest produced car in history....

Both of these cars are great, & I recommend them both. obviously croud pleasers... but when it comes down to the car as a whole.......

Its Classic all the way this time!

Offtopic: If you want close races try Opel Roadster cup in Opel Events and peugeot 206 cup in peugeot
end of offtopic

You should compare Daihatsu Midget´s The old one can be wonned at the midget trophy at Daihatsu and thwe new one bought from used cars (late 90´s)

CIVIC DISORDER!!!

Here is the classic Civic VS the new Type R

right off the bat Ill have to say that both of these cars have some handling issues.. it goes without saying that they understeer pretty bad, but the Type R is worse.. Just thinking about stabbing the throttle while taking a corner might get you into a wall.. the Orange guy is quite a bit better mainly because of less power & weight

The styling has gone from euro inspired to japanese original while keeping the same hatch back shape..

out of these two cars I really like the Oldshcool style & performance of the Original Civic...
