Ive been playing GT2 on the playstation 2, and found out the newer memory cards wont save the game, so I bought some older cards. Apparently the cards were for a PSX, should that work? I tried saving and it says the card needs to be formatted, but then the save fails each time. Did I get the wrong cards or just some that are crappy and wont work?

You must use a PS2 card to save PS2 games - and a PS1 card to save PS1 games. The card should be formatted by a PS1 in order to work with a PS1 game - a PS2 will try to format it like a regular piece of hard memory, but PS1s have a block saving system.

What a nasty caveat that is. But at least you can probably easily pick up a PS1 pretty cheap these days... (PS1 memory cards are a different matter...)
