Well here I am again, some moths later but with a changed state of mind.
8-30..Yes, just a few days ago a good friend of mine is run off the road and hits a tree. He was killed on impact.

His funeral was this morning.

The Funeral procession was this evening.

But low and behold, what happens?
Every car in the line is pulled over and questioned(liscence insurance reg, what are you doing etc etc) Why?
Because our train of cars "impedes" the flow of traffic for which there was none.
Every car was doing 45MPH down a 45MPH 3 lane road.

The Line of cars took up 2 of the 3 lanes.

We explained to the officer what the situation was, what is his response?

"I'm not here to listen to excuses, if your supposed funeral line wishes to continue you need to not take up more than 1 lane, the only thing stopping me from ticketing each and every one of you is the DUI enforcement van that is parked 2 blocks up the road in need of assistance. So from here on stay to one lane, alright?"....

Word for word....*Recorded by my cellular phone*.....

Kinda aggrivating, especially in a time of mourning.....

What is this useless crap? He did nothing wrong. He did his job properly and did so professionally. You think just because a family member dies, you deserve most of the road?

You have one lousy "Anti-cop" attitude. Grow up.

He did his job?'

What job was that?

What law states cars can't occupy 2 lanes of traffic?

Think before you speak next time.
"Did his job"..Above and beyond, right?

Ignorance to the law is no excuse. He had the right to pull you over. You really need to use your brain before you speak. BTW, how's cousin's jail cell? Comfy?

Arizona Traffic Laws

10.48.010 Funerals.

A. A funeral procession composed of a procession of motor or horse driven vehicles shall be escorted by a police officer or a professional escort service, and the funeral director shall be responsible for payment of the costs incurred for such escort.

B. Each driver in a funeral procession shall drive with the vehicle’s headlights on and shall drive as near to the right hand edge of the roadway as possible, following as closely to the vehicle directly ahead as is safe and prudent. (Ord. 244 § 1(part), 1990: prior code § 12-1-13)

ALL funeral processions EVERYWHERE in the United States are to be taken place in the rightmost lane. Not two lanes. Not lane and a half. ONE lane.

:dunce:

Well for one, it was a procession to the crash site...Which means!!!!
No hurse....

Second, we were in the process of getting into the left lane to get onto the highway......

Third, "land and a half" ?

So there are no left hand turns in the state of arizona when concerning funerals?

Yup, right behind the "hurse".

Look, I'm sorry your friend died, but you were in the wrong.

Yeah, turning left while using two right lanes. Sure. Sure.

I didn't say EACH car took up 2 lanes..

It was 2 lanes of cars....1 lane in the right..one lane in the center...all switching to the left lane to turn..

And NO there was NO HURSE....so how could we be behind it?

How about we drop this and pretend the thread never came into existence?

There's no point in arguing about it now, and Drifter's having a hard enough time as it is.

I agree, this thread went sour quick, sorry to hear your friend died.

Why is it always people with Drift in their names?

You shouldn't have brought this up, man. Not if you didn't want to take flak, anyway.

condolences for your friend. Have a nice day.

I had a friend die in a car accident on Monday night. He was only 16.

My condolences.

And since this thread is not likely to get any better than the last couple posts, I'm going to lock it, without adding my opinion.
