I sliced my finger to the bone last week, severing the flexor tendon and digital nerve completely apart so my hand is to be fully rested for the next three months. No driving, no working, and no video games. And I was just working my way through the Assassin's Creed series.... So I was wondering could anyone recommend some good PC games that only require the mouse to play. I mouse with my right and it is the right I have hurt, so am now learning how to mouse with my left....

Total Wars Shogun

You can't play Shogun 2 with one hand if you want to be able to respond to everything instantly. The basics can be done with the mouse but you will want the hotkeys and quicker camera movement given by the keyboard quite often to keep an eye on what is happening/respond to things quickly. You would especially find the keyboard helpful with the camera.

If you are happy with not doing perfectly though yes it can be done and you can do ok, it won't be a complete disaster.

It is a great game though anyway.

Good points. You can focus on managing the empire though.

What about some turn-based strategy games?

Xcom: Enemy Unknown (Relatively new and awesome!) or any other xcom, they're all great. One of the greatest strategy game series ever.

Valkyria Chronicles (very dynamic tbs game and also very good)

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (Old but gold!) or pick one of the newer titles, I heard VI is good.

Sorry to hear about the injury. Get well soon. Until then, Farmville? lol

Whilst I can't suggest any games, you can reassign the left/right mouse functions to suit left handed use if it's too awkward at present.

Any point and click, I particularly recommend WadJet Eye games - Gemini Rue, the Blackwell series, Resonance - and SCUMM games, The Dig (which is on Steam) is excellent but you'll have to Google the rest. I think some do require typing but I can't think of any instances where being too slow will get you a game over. Possibly Telltale games (Back to the Future, Sam & Max, The Walking Dead) as well? I can't remember.

Also technically you can play X3: Terran Conflict/Albion Prelude solely with the mouse but it would be slow as hell and quite dull.

I believe Simraceway has a mouse only mode too, and that's free.

Wow!

Such an awesome response in such a short space of time! Thank you to everyone who contributed so far - I am definitely spoilt for choice with the selection of games suggested.

One of the first things I done when I turned on my PC was swap the mouse buttons about - natural reaction was to click with the thumb (I use a trackball mouse) to select things and left or right button was never thought about. Bizarre...

SimCity has caught my attention - I think I used to have it on the SNES and it was always epic fun! I have the Megapolis app on my iPhone as well but have never bothered much with it.

Someone mentioned Steam as well - I play one of the Football Manager games, 2012 I think it is, but they can get fairly monotonous and match results I think are kind of random - I don't like the lack of control there.

I should probably have asked for specific genres as well, but I will take all the suggestions so far and Google them and YouTube them for gameplay.

I'm not sure about it's name, but that old alien-space-shooter-game, should be playable with one hand, I think. It looks a bit like this:

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. It runs perfectly on Windows 7 and I re installed it recently and can confirm that it is just as addictive as ever!

You're looking for Space Invaders. So much frustration with that game, I could never get the last ship.

Whoa, that sounds gruesome! :scared:

I had a similar incident last year where I fractured my hand/finger or more specifically my 'fifth metacarpal' of my dominant hand. After weeks of not gaming, I gave Battlefield a go and got a very bad score plus frustration.

I would suggest any casual Facebook games if you're into those. You know, where you just click, click, click away and harvest your vegetables. :P

Or maybe a round of casual RTS, where you don't really need to hotkey airstrikes and stuff. I still play Red Alert 2 from time to time.

Also, Zoo Tycoon. :D

Anno 2070 can be played with one hand as well as the warhammer series and Starcraft should be managable as well.

Well since you are just healing it will be tough to play one handed, I have been playing one handed for over 35 years now and get along fairly decent. In fact I had my right arm amputated over 35 years ago. Not to many of my friends can beat me at NHL hockey or golf. I'm not so much into shooters as I was 20 years ago.

I pretty much just iRace these days. It's too bad you didn't cut it a little deeper, I have an extra hook kicking around. :D

You can play Starcraft 2 with only mouse but the hotkeys make it better, still would be able to do it though. Actually any RTS game should be alright for you.
