There's little doubt we're fan-boys when it comes to the new 2009 Corvette ZR1. Any time you take a Corvette and give it more power, lighter weight, bigger brakes and a more competent suspension, you're talking about all the ingredients to send our supercar-loving hearts thumping right out of our chest, sign in hand proclaiming, "Do Want!" Then we found this — the Fireblade design concept — a re-skinning of the already potentially iconic Corvette ZR1 by South African designer-wannabe Idries Noah. Now we know it's nothing more than a 3D dream car rather than even a one-off design, it's still making at least one of us feel a level of pants-tightening excitement we haven't felt since the first time we spotted the ZR1 in an embargoed press event the month before the Detroit Auto Show.

I think this car is rather sexy, and a shame its only a pipe-dream...

It's a very interesting design. I can't see any Corvette styling cues on it anywhere though.

Do they, I don't see much of it. Then again Corvettes arn't my forte so I'm probably just missing it or thinking of the wrong Corvette.

I really like it. I don't so much as a Corvette, but it has a really cool design.

And with Corvette mechanicals, it would be quite a car.

Front end and body: C3 Corvette
Headlights: C2 Grand Sport model (some were modified for open lights)

A bit tall in stance and rather ungainly. Pare off a few inches in height and I would approve.

The rear end to me looks more like a C6 than a C3.

Wow that looks amazing! Something right out of a video game almost.

It's not quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite there, but it's goood.

And yes, I couldn't put my finger on it, but C3 is it.

And the backlight from a Zagato/Aston Vanquish/DB9/Vantage.

And although you can't see much of it - nice arse. :)

-> That concept reminds me of the [C2] Stingray-series, in which is not a problem. :)

~> By the way, the [C3] Mako Shark-series is ugh. :yuck:

Look how scarily similar the rear looks to the Saab Aero X concept... Its identical! Even with the little silver bent metal in the light housing!

It's basic body shape is corvette... The long hood... the fenders... the low roofline and short rear end.

i dont look at it and immediately think "corvette"
if it had the usual corvette circular taillights and a slight lip on the rear then maybe..

Part Reventon, part Alfa 8C, part Maserati Birdcage, and no part Corvette. I guess that was the point, to give the Corvette mechanicals a totally new body, but just because you cribbed parts from recent supercars, that doesn't mean they go together, nor does it mean you did anything worth printing. Sure, a vaguely C3-ish shape is hardly the wrong way to go, but the devil is in the details....

Bleh...

Since when were 'Vettes supposed to look like transformers. The thing has extra edges and flat surfaces all over it. It looks like a low-res CG attempt at modeling a 'Vette.

The 'Vette is supposed is supposed to look like a sexy woman - smooth lines with the occasional boney hip.

The shot from the back isn't too bad. But the front literally looks like a transformer.

What is it about that plane that car designers like? I actually DON'T much like it.

Well, it's angular and exciting, and to echo the shape on a car is to suggest that it looks like it could supercruise. Often, the F-22 influences are poorly-executed on automobiles.
