Yees yes, as every journey into getting a driver license starts, its basically me taking my written portion. And I just wanted to know if anyone had any advice for the test to offer me so I can potentially pass (or better yet, ace) the test tomorrow. Plus any advice or tips for my driving test would be kindly appreciated as well. Hehe. Thanks in advance! 👍 :sly:

It depends where you're taking the test. I know the Australian one is very comprehensive, and you need to score really highly in order to be able to pass. You need to study the book you're given. In detail. You can't just show up and expect to pass; you really need to know your stuff. Some of the questions are quite difficult, and one misplaced word can completely change the meaning of a question (or an answer). You should have been studying for at least two months before you even register to take the test.

Sorry for not making it quite as clear, I'm taking the test in California. I do realize that it wasn't as easy as it seems, I've had some friends saying it's all based on common sense, but I've seen that it's a bit more than just that. I've read the entire book, and took about 3 or 4 online test preps to ensure my grand victory over the test, but the tests they hand out, they... Well. They have a play-on words. They mix it up and about and it confuses the bejeezus out of me. I'm just really paranoid if I'm able to pass the test or not... Due to their word scrambling questions.

Comprehensive? Which state are you in, in Australia? Here in Victoria, the pass mark for the learners test is just 78% and the questions they ask are mostly logic. I easily passed my learners with a score of 97%, one question wrong, and that was due to my stupidity of not reading a question properly. I think I finished that test in a few minutes while I saw some others taking their time. People however do study for it and still manage to fail. Maybe the P-Plate tests are very different..

I'm in New South Wales. The test may have changed since I took it, but when I did, it was nasty. There are thousands of possible questions, with the test being made up of randomly-selected question. Some sections of the test have a stronger weighting than others, so if you get just one quesion wrong in some sections, you can fail the entire test. You absolutely need to know the stuff beforehand; it's specifically designed to stop people showing up at the earliest possible opportunity and simply passing.

Ok that makes sense; while I was trying some of the practise questions on the VicRoads website, it was basically just about 60 questions being repeated, so I suppose it would be very different if there were that many different questions. Must have been very different when you took the test, as I can assure you, it's very, very easy here now.

The test is not as easy here, you get two sections. One is 10 questions and the other is 20, you are allowed 1 wrong with the 10 and 2 wrong with the 20.

Heres hoping that I pass it first go, from what I can tell on the practice test most of it is common sense once you have read the book through once.

On a side note, I had no idea interludes was even Australian .

My next door neighbor has just done her test here in the uk. The amount of stuff you have to learn is ridiculous, you have to learn the legal towing weights for each type of car!!!! along with lots of other stuff.

Luckily she passed. But God knows how I'm going to.

I thought it was easy to get my learners permit. I can't remember what my score was but I think I only got 1 or 2 wrong.
The hardest part with getting my P plates was the hazard test, it was like playing a driving game but with no sense of speed whatsoever therefore making it difficult when to do the required actions.

Edit: Oh you wanted advice too. Umm read the questions carefully and take your time. There's no point losing marks because you didn't read the question and you know the right answer.

Well, I managed to drag myself out of bed quite early and tried to refresh my mind on what I need to know... Again, I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me, and wish me luck on the test! Time to make coffee and study on my way there. :nervous:
